Company Description
Western Wireless Corporation. The Group's principal activity is to provide rural wireless communications services. It operates in 88 rural service areas (RSAs) and 19 metropolitan service areas (MSAs). The Group provides wireless services, under the CellularONE(R) and Western Wireless(R) brand names. The Group has roaming agreements with Cingular Wireless LLC, T-Mobile USA Inc, Verizon Wireless Corporation and Sprint PCS Corporation. The Group through its subsidiaries are licensed to provide wireless communication services in seven countries outside the United States including Austria, Ireland, Slovenia, Bolivia, Haiti, Ghana and Georgia. As on 31-Dec-2004 the Group serves 1.8 million mobile subscribers. The Group also operates call centers in Manhattan, Washington and Kansas. On 9-Jan-2005, the Group entered into an Agreement and Plan of Merger with ALLTEL Corporation and Wigeon Acquisition LLC. Subscriber Fees accounted for 79% of 2004 revenues; Roamer, 13%, Equipment, 4%, Fixed Line, 3%, and Other, 1%
