Sprint Nextel Corporation Formerly known as Sprint Corporation. The Group's principal activity is to provide communication products and solutions. It operates in two segments. Wireless division operates as a digital PCS wireless network with licenses to provide service to the entire United States population, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands using a single frequency band and a single technology. Long distance provides a broad suite of communications services targeted to domestic business and residential customers, multinational corporations and other communications companies. Other businesses of the Group consist primarily of wholesale sales of telecommunications equipment. On 17-May-2006, the Group Spin-off Local Communications Business. On 12-Aug-2005, a subsidiary of the Group merged with Nextel Communications, Inc and as a result it acquired Nextel. On 26-Jun-2006, it acquired the remaining 72% of Nextel Partners, on 01-Jul-2006 Ubiqui Tel Inc and 01-Feb-2006, Alamosa Holdings. Wireless accounted for 86% of 2006 gross revenues and Long Distance, 14 %
