Company Description
Clarkson PLC. The Group's principal activity is providing shipping and shipping services. It operates through its business segments, Chartering, Broking, Research, Property and Logistics Services. Chartering represents ship owners and charterers in the transportation by sea of a range of cargoes. It involves dry bulk, container, deep sea, specialised products and gas chartering. Broking arranges principal-to-principal cash settled contracts for differences based upon standardised freight contracts. Research Services encompass the provision of information and shipping publications. Property Services includes the provision of accommodation both within and outside the Group. Logistics operations are specified projects where the Group has financial and operating interest in several logistics projects. The Group acquired Maredorado Srl on 01-Jan-2005. The Group disposed of Pasir Bulk Carriers Pte Ltd and Channel Freight Ferries Ltd in 2005. Chartering accounted for 53% of 2005 revenues; Broking, 39%; Research, 4%; Property, 3% and Logistics, 1%
