Company Description
Avondale Industries, Inc. is a leading shipbuilder in the United States engaged in the design, repair, conversion and construction of a wide range of military and commercial vessels. The company builds ocean-going vessels for a wide variety of uses, including ships for the United States Navy and Coast Guard. As the Navy is reducing its fleet size the company is seeking to diversify away from shipbuilding and towards non-marine construction projects such as steel fabrication. United States military segment accounted for 78% of 1998 market breakdown and commercial, 22%.
