Midland Enterprises Inc.. The Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastern Enterprises of Weston Massachusetts. The Group operates a fleet of towboats, tugboats and barges on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers and their tributaries and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway for the transportation of bulk commodities. The principal commodity transported is coal. The Group, through its subsidiary, undertakes repair work on marine equipment, operates coal-dumping terminals and provides refueling and barges fleeting services. The Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company and the Gulf Power Company are the major customers.
