There are many kind of professional programs out there, and not all are legitimate. You can enhance your career by taking seminars, courses and training. You do not want to go to a fly-by-night place for a certificate that's meaningless. Taking your cue from these key terms can help you choose the right program.

Bank teller training

Bank teller training results in acquiring a certificate from an institution that is part of the banking industry. Usually the training focuses on teller compliance, customer relationships, business practices and other more general aspects of the banking industry. Bank tellers are required to have at least a high-school education.

Professional certification

Professional certification shows that a person is qualified to perform a function or job. Certification programs in banking run from high to low-there are certification programs for bank vice presidents, managers and tellers (as seen above).

Banking seminars

A seminar is defined as a meeting to discuss ideas or a course for advanced students. Banking seminars can be on any number of banking topics and at any range of educational levels. These do not have to be affiliated with the banking or financial industry or with an educational institution.

Accredited bank training courses

The word "accredited" in accredited bank training courses, refers to the institution providing the training. Accredited educational institutions have satisfied the U.S. Secretary of Education regarding the quality of their post-secondary education programs. Receiving training from an accredited institution suggests a higher quality of training.

Banking trade associations

There are 19 banking trade associations in the US. Trade associations are organizations that are funded by the businesses operating in a specific industry. Trade associations often lobby for their own benefit but they are also good educational resources. Most banking trade associations provide some kind of professional development. These can offer practical--straight from the horse's mouth--kinds of education and training.
