Clothing Donations
Tips & Advice to help you make your decision on Clothing Donations
Clothing donations are a great way to help those in need and save money. Donations can be written off on tax returns as a charitable expense. There are several online resources to assist in finding a local donation center. Documenting the initial price of the clothing and the donation itself will assist in calculating tax breaks later on.
When donating clothes consider the standards set forth by the agencies which collect and redistribute items. These guidelines will help you sort what is appropriate to recycle and what cannot be used. Review the type of organization whom is receiving the donation and how it will be redistributed. Some programs sell the clothes at a greatly reduced price while others provide the destitute with clothes for free. There is also the matter of for profit versus non profit organizations. Depending upon the type of organization you wish to donate to you may want to review several options.
Donating clothing is great for economic and moral purposes. It is a way to give back to society on our own terms rather than let your taxes be collected and distributed by government authority. If you are considering clothing donations try exploring the links to the left for further information.
