If you are planning to run an agriculture or landscaping business, you may need to learn the basics about irrigation systems. After all, you may need to find a way to deliver water to areas of land where it is needed–and you may need an effective system in which to do this.
This is not as easy as it may seem–in fact, setting up an effective water system can be quite difficult due to evaporation. To devise a system that will adequately irrigate plants as needed, you will need to address the issue of water loss. Evaporation can be increased by both the distance that the water is being sprayed to irrigate the plants and by the temperature or heat in the area that needs the water system.
Sprinkler systems can be inexpensive; however, they are often more affected by evaporation. These systems can be made more efficient by using them when the sun is down and by setting them to automatically turn off when adequate rainfall has provided enough water to the plants. Drip systems provide water directly to the plant roots and stems, avoiding the effects of evaporation. These systems may be more expensive to install.
