The benefits of learning all about aircraft jet fuel to jet fuel hydrogen are endless; jet fuel education and training will help aviation professionals reach new heights. Airlines run, literally, on jet engine fuel. Read More »
If you use a jet in your business, you are already aware of the rising prices of jet fuel and how these prices affect your ability to travel by air. These cost increases may not end any time soon, either. After all, the price of aircraft fuel rose nearly 50% from 2009 to 2010. And, as of May of 2011 (when data was last examined) fuel costs had risen another 30%. Because of the extremely high fuel prices, many jet owners are being forced to leave their aircraft in the hangar far more often than they would like.
Fortunately, biofuels research is being put on the fast track. This is because the rising fuel prices affect not only private aircraft owners, but also the airlines. Tests have been completed in the laboratory and in the air on hydrotreated renewable jet (HRJ) fuel. Processed from weedy plants, animal fat, and other types of feedstock, this biofuels is chemically identical to the fuel that powers aircraft today.
There are other types of biofuels being developed for use in jets and in other aircraft. And, international aviation fuel standards now allow aircraft to blend conventional fuel with up to 50% biofuels. This is good news for jet owners trying to save on costs!
