Skiing Equipment

Create a diverse inventory of skiing equipment so you're better prepared to meet the needs of every customer who walks through your doors. Include boots, bindings, clothing and bags so you're customers don't have to shop with any of your competitors to find the things they need.

Think about stocking one or two specific brands if you don't have the retail room for a larger amount of inventory. When stocking ski apparel in a small retail space, choose color-coordinated outfits that include everything from boots to gloves so your customers are fully outfitted with a sophisticated look.

1. Stock ski clothing in a variety of sizes.

2. Make boots part of your ski apparel inventory.

3. Consider both alpine and cross country skis when stocking your skiing equipment department.

Choose ski clothing for the entire family

Order a large inventory of ski clothing so you can become a one-stop shop for your customers. If they can outfit the kids, teens and adults, they'll be less likely to go to your competition to purchase what you don't have in stock.

Offer a variety of boots and other ski gear at all price points

Consider creating a new inventory of ski boots. Ski boots are often one of the first things customers look for when shopping for ski equipment. Provide your customers with the brands they know best and you'll be providing them with good customer service.

Remember ski gear isn't complete without the skis

Find suppliers of skiing equipment who can provide you with a variety of skis so you can outfit anyone who comes into your store. Consider laying in several options of both alpine skis and cross country skis so you don't miss any potential sales.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of stocking used ski equipment for those who may be new to the sport and unable or unwilling to pay for new equipment. Used equipment for skiing is less expensive than new, opening the sport to more customers.
