1. Study production techniques in school. You may not need a 4-year degree, but if you want television production jobs, you still need to learn how to use television and film.
2. Network like crazy. The entertainment industry is famous for being hard to break into. It's important that you have connections to get television jobs. Join local organizations to meet people.
3. Ask for an informational interview. If you don't know anyone in the industry, ask to meet with a local professional to learn about the industry. This is a great way to make connections.
Apply for an internship to start employment in television
Many people don't like internships because they are often unpaid, but they are a great way to learn the industry and meet people that can help you find paid work later on. It's best to take on an internship when you are a student.

You may also want to check with your local television stations. Many stations, such as Maryland Public Television, offer internships throughout the year.

There's no better place to look for jobs than on Internet job boards that focus on the industry. This way, you don't have to filter through any jobs that aren't in the entertainment industry.
