Construction contractors face ups and downs and must follow the general business news as well as local and national general contractor listings. General contractors should keep up with advances in building and estimating software developments as well as municipal building codes and new green standards that are being looked at in many communities.

Follow the trends affecting independent contractors to remain competitive. Read general service contractor publications that supply you with information about what deals your competitors are closing and where you might find new business opportunities. Look for general contractors news and trends from a variety of sources.

Learn about impending code changes as well as which companies are reporting growth to find additional opportunities.

The American Institute of Constructors provides members with the news and information that you need to stay updated on changes in the industry.  BidClerk, ConstructionWire, Dodge, SmartLeads and Onvia present news on construction project bid opportunities.  Hanley Wood publishes a range of sites aimed at construction contractors.

Join general contracting groups for insider insights from other members

Association with other general contractors will provide you with an inside track to news about who is landing the big deals and what kinds of projects are getting built. Join a building contractor trade association and take advantage of the networking opportunities to develop relationships that could lead to more business for your company. Read the group's publications that provide members with up-to-date news and information.
