GRAS

GRAS is a program put into place by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). GRAS stands for "generally recognized as safe." This program allows companies to make products that do not have to be tested by the FDA if they contain ingredients that appear in the GRAS database. A product has to indicate on the label if it has GRAS ingredients in it and if it was not tested by the FDA.
