Aperture priority (Av)
Flash photographyFlash photography uses a flashgun to achieve certain effects in the pictures a photographer takes. By using a flash, a photographer can enhance or override the available light to ensure better results.
Digital single-lens reflex (dSLR) cameraA dSLR, or digital single lens reflex camera, sends light to the viewfinder via a moving mirror system behind the lens. The mirror moves when the shutter clicks so light reaches the sensor. A prism lets the photographer view exactly what will be seen on the film. Because these cameras are becoming more popular, photographers should be knowledgeable about their capabilities.
Exposure and meteringDifferent metering modes determine the amount of light and the length of time the shutter remains open. CCDs and CMOSsCCDs are Charge-Coupled Device image sensors. They are different from CMOSs, which are Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductors. Both of these image sensors convert light into electrons. CCDs provide high-quality images with many pixels and good light sensitivity. CMOS sensors usually give lower quality and lower resolution images.
