Rising costs of airline personnel education need not deter aviation professionals from seeking necessary training for staff

The cost of flight schools vary, but most private pilot license courses fall in the range of $3,000 to $4,000. Flight attendant courses can be equally expensive, depending on the institution conducting the courses, and an accelerated flight training course can run anywhere from $4,000 to $6,000, depending on whose plane is being used for the classes. Personnel training expenses can add up very quickly, especially if multiple employees require training.

Airline personnel training, though costly, is essential for aviation businesses to keep abreast of changing marketing trends. Professional pilots, maintenance technicians, engineers and aviation managers can all benefit from extended training in their areas of expertise. Instead of falling beneath industry standards because of limited funds, consider offsetting expenses for necessary training in the following ways:

When planning your airline's personnel training, don't just think about the pilots. Airline dispatchers play a key role in the airline industry, as do flight attendants.
Try: World Airline Dispatcher Schools offers both 200- and 80-hour courses to prepare students to earn their FAA Aircraft Flight Dispatcher certificate. Both run under $5,000 and the tuition includes course materials. Become a member of AirlineCareer.com for under $100, and study online to earn a Certificate of Achievement in flight attendant training. Though most airlines train their own flight attendants, this certificate will put employees ahead of the game.  Aircraft maintenance technicians can get continuing education required for their FAA certification by taking online courses through AMTSociety for $49.

Seek financial assistance for airline service education programs

University flight programs can cost between $120,000 to $180,000. Some flight schools, however, do offer financial assistance. Locate and research airline personnel schools or programs that offer loans, grants and scholarship opportunities.
