Asking the right questions when conducting an interview enables an employer to hire the best applicant for the available position. Job interview questions can range from questions about an applicant's experience to their opinions of world events. Candidates should be asked how well they handle conflict and what methods they use to resolve problems. Asking an applicant why they left their last position may offer a great deal of insight into how well they fit the position you are offering.

Pay close attention to how a prospective employee answers each of your questions. The actual answer is not the only part of the interview process. The amount of time it takes for an individual to answer a question is just one of the factors to consider. Facial expressions, hand gestures and even eye contact are all part of their true answer.

Business owners and interviewers should keep in mind that there are some questions that cannot be asked. Regulations are in place to prevent discrimination and asking the wrong question can cause problems. An interviewer may ask if an applicant is over the age of 18 but cannot ask exactly how old the individual is.
