Regardless of size, industry type, and location, almost every company in operation makes it a point to schedule and present performance reviews. Some businesses have bi-annual reviews to help employees stay on track throughout the year, while others operate on a yearly review schedule. More and more companies are choosing to have supervisors meet with employees on a monthly basis for an informal review in addition to the bi- or annual reviews. Performance reviews can touch on a number of important topics, including plans for employee development and expectations of the manager in addition to providing information about job responsibility changes.
For speed and accuracy during these reviews, many companies are choosing to use computer software specially designed for this purpose as well as providing hard, paper copies for the employee's personnel file. This software typically features printable review forms for use during the employee interviews complete with signature and date lines for hard copy record keeping. The same information can also be stored within the software system and is easily accessible for the next review interview. Managers and employees alike are able to see the improvements and changes that have been made in the time period since the last review.
