Plastic Foam

Tips & Advice to help you make your decision on Plastic Foam

Plastic foam comes in a variety of shapes and sizes and is used as insulation for packing and shipping. It can be shaped into a variety of forms, including large solid blocks and small beads. Sheets of plastic foam may be rigid or flexible. Much of the plastic foam on the market today is made from polyurethane or polystyrene, although other plastics are also sometimes used. Some forms of plastic foam can be recycled into plastic pellets.

You can buy plastic foam wholesale from distributors or directly from manufacturers. Companies that manufacture plastic foam include General Plastics Manufacturing Company, PAC Foam, Rogers Corporation, E.N. Murray, American Excelsior, Benchmark Foam, and Quality Foam. Many companies offer custom-made plastic foam designed specifically to encase your particular product and fit inside its external packaging. These tend to be more expensive than standard plastic foam since they must be made using specially created molds. Recycled plastic foam packing peanuts, produced by companies such as Free Flow Packaging International, are another option you can use to protect your products during shipping or storage.

Most manufacturers will send you samples of their products before you buy, so you can test them for cushioning and durability before committing to a purchase.
