Office furniture can impact the first impression your clients have when they visit your office. A shabby office may indicate to your prospective client that you aren't successful, and therefore you may not be the best person to hire for their needs. On the other hand, if you have a great desk suite your prospective client may be more inclined to see you as very good at what you do. First impressions, whether positive or negative, can be the single most important determination of skill and confidence from your clients.
It is equally important to keep the desk area of your office organized and clutter free. Certainly, everyone who actually uses their desk for work may find it cluttered from time to time. However, if you are expecting a client or colleague to meet you in your office, it is recommended that the desk be cleared of anything that doesn't pertain to their visit. This shows the person you're meeting with that you have their undivided attention; that you will not be scanning last week's inventory report while they are discussing their matters with you. One of the most efficient ways to accomplish this, without disrupting your work day flow, is with a piece of furniture into which you can place the excess items on your desk temporarily. A credenza serves this purpose very well.
