Oklahoma Real Estate Agents
Tips & Advice to help you make your decision on Oklahoma Real Estate Agents
There are two steps required by Oklahoma real estate agents before obtaining licensing as a full-fledged agent. The first step grants Provisional Sales Associate (PSA) status. PSA licensing is granted to an applicant 18 years or older, of good moral character, which has completed a 90 hour real estate course approved by the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission. Within the first year of obtaining licensing, PSAs must complete an additional 45 hours of related education. Upon completion, the PSA will receive their Sales Associate (SA) license.
The SA license is renewable after three years and the SA is required to complete another 21 hours of continuing education during that three year period in order to be eligible for renewal.
SAs work for Oklahoma real estate brokers and cannot themselves enter into the contractual agreements of the properties they represent. These agreements are in the name of the broker of whom the Sales Associate is only a representative. To obtain a broker's license, the applicant must be of good moral character with at least two years of experience as a PSA or SA during the previous five years. The applicant is also required to complete 90 hours of advanced coursework approved by the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission.
