Broom clean

Many vacation rental agreements stipulate that the property is left "broom clean," that all belongings and trash be cleared and the floors are swept. This stipulation does not require disinfecting any parts of the vacation property. Many vacation areas have cleaning services that will sanitize and vacuum the home.

Home exchange

Homeowners may list their primary residence or secondary, vacation property on home swap sites. Property managers take on the responsibilities of the vacation property otherwise left to the owner. Property managers not only advertise and book the vacation property, they are also tasked with ensuring regular maintenance such as cleaning and trash removal. The property manager is the point of contact for the questions and concerns of renters before during and after their stay. Property managers are paid a percentage of the rental fee as commission for their services.

Guest manual

Owners of vacation properties may provide a guest manual for renters. The manual may include expectations for the care of the property and suggestions that may help the guests make the most use of their time. These manuals offer suggestions of restaurants or local hot spots.
