By Robert Hill Electronic resistors restrict voltage flowing through a circuit and while doing so protect against excess voltage beyond the circuit's rating. Voltage and current values determine the resistors rating. Ohm’s law plays a critical function in the composition of the resistor.

• Body colored resistance standards indicate important features. For instance, a blue or white resistor means non-flammable and/or fusible. Never replace a non-flammable resistor with a flammable one. Some geographic locations use a composite green to indicate non-flammable.
