You know the scenario: every other Friday, time sheets pile up on your desk, awaiting entry into a dial-up speed payroll system. Or, maybe you have to remind your employees time and time again to enter their hours into software that regularly crashes. Managing the time and attendance of all your employees should not be a reoccurring headache. Thankfully, there's a new app for that, and it's making your life as a business owner a whole lot easier.
HR is one of the many sectors of business that are getting a total overhaul with the emergence of cloud technology and the advancements of smartphones. Both veteran HR companies and new players alike have introduced long-awaited solutions to the antiquated systems of the past. Growing dependence on mobile technology has created demand for better time and attendance reporting options, and thankfully, industry leaders ADP and Paychex are paying attention.

New Time and Attendance Tools for Small Businesses
This June, both ADP and Paychex announced new, of-the-moment options to help employers get out of the timecard stone age. ADP unveiled their new online time and attendance tool, eTimecard. The online, mobile-optimized eTimecard allows employees to access and manage their hours worked from anywhere, at anytime instead of the previous RUN software, which had to be accessed from a computer in which the software was installed.
Similarly, HR solutions giant Paychex recently acquired cloud-based time and attendance platform nettime solutions, which helps small to medium-sized businesses with the recording and reporting of time and attendance. Both of these moves have been in response to growing need for a major overhaul of not only time and attendance software, but HR solutions in general.
The Benefits of Mobile and Cloud-Based Systems
Tracking the time and attendance of your employees is an extremely important functionality for any business owner. Not only does it help you properly pay your employees for their hours worked, but it keeps your business in compliance with state and federal laws. Both of those are important issues, and prior time and attendance systems were not necessarily an employer's friend when it came to either.
New, mobile or cloud-based systems allow for increased accuracy, in addition to allowing an employer to more closely track when their employees are working. According to a recent survey, 60% of employers said their employees weren't accurately reporting their time (Tweet This). What's worse, a 2008 Nucleus Research study revealed that almost 20% of employees admitted to buddy-punching, or employees clocking-in for one another (Tweet This).
Though these new solutions are indeed easier for your employees, they're a lifesaver from an employers perspective. Newcomers like Zenefits and BambooHR offer comprehensive, cloud-based HR solutions at a fraction of the price of the older, more clunky options (Tweet These Tools). Regardless which solution you choose for your business, multiple updated time and attendance options are here to make running your business a whole lot easier.
