Any marketing support available to rural women products?
We have linked 5000 and more women and men self help groups to start small business, and improve their existing business activities. They produce various handicrafts, food products and fancy articles. They need a marketing support.
What I would recommend is to create an easy to use e-commerce website and list all the items in one location. Then get a flexible marketing company to link the site with the huge market of people who want to support small businesses making wonderful products. If you want more details, personal message me.
Yes, I am a bit confused to this as well. When you state linked you are saying you have connections with these owners and they want you to help them with their marketing or you need help in marketing their products to the the 5000 or more self help groups? I can possibly point you into a direction but quite confused on what you are asking.
I would recommend you reach out to AIACA - All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association. They run various initiatives, including prominent ones like Craftmark that provide assistance to rural artisans to connect with markets and consumers. I think the HQ is in Delhi and they already have 100+ members.
More details are available here- http://www.aiacaonline.org/craftmark.asp .
Another option is to register with the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) who works in this domain and has recently started a Guarantee system. You can read more about it here - http://www.wfto.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1
What are you asking exactly? Are u looking for someone to help you with marketing or are you looking for advice and consultation?
Do you have a website linking them all together into some sort of cooperative? Sounds like the farmer's market vendors, is that correct? Are you looking for alternative venues for them? I agree with Joseph Gedgaud, we need more info to answer the question.
Like the others, I'm unclear as to what you are asking. If you are looking for a platform to sell various handicrafts, food products and fancy articles, then I would suggest using http://www.etsy.com/.
Here, you talk about three different product category, Handicraft, Food products, and Fancy articles. The go to market and marketing strategy of all three business will be different and specific. For and example, the customer of handicraft- can be Sec A++ category in Metro while food products will be common man- depending on which part of India you are trying to start. So it will be extremely difficult to suggest a common way of marketing for all. A separate business case can be prepared for each which can use many common channel platforms like- NGO network, Common Service center network etc.
Hope this helps.
