Are Lean Six Sigma methodologies effective in software development?
I work for a quality team in a Software industry and I have 5 years of experience in the field. I wanted to know how effective and reliable these Lean Six Sigma methodologies are. Please comment if anybody has already implemented this in their projects.

Lean Six Sigma methodologies will help removing unnecessary things from a process which are typically called as “waste”. I am not a software engineer or developer.
However, as a manufacturing process developer where Lean Six Sigma methodologies are commonly used and implemented, I can easily imagine that the software development process steps and specifications should likewise be able to be broken down to it's components and analyzed and integrated ino a Lean Six Sigma structure. Lean Sigma Six methodologies should enable implementing more bug-free software while speeding up the software development process overall.

Absolutely! But it is relative to the projects that are done for certification and how relevant the work is to the environments you support. From a purely project management perspective I prefer to deal with someone who is a recent Six Sigma Black Belt with relevant project experience to recent college grads hands down!

I see the Lean philosophy as fundamental to any business, from management and culture to processes to development. I'm not sure about software, but in manufacturing, sales, support and office processes I have personally seen enough spectacular results (turnaround times, cost savings, staff morale) which make me a true believer. My personal key takeout is to be clear on what value is, as seen through the eyes of the customers.
