What's an affordable insurance provider for a one-person operation?
I own a very small (under 800 sq ft) commercial space that I’d like to use for special events such as poetry readings, book signings, meetings, etc.
Unfortunately, I am at a loss and can’t find the right insurance. Once providers hear “events” they think parties and other high-risk activities. What can I do? I’m a one-person operation working under an S corp.
Sorry to hear about the issues you are having. There are different factors that you can be denied commercial property/etc. insurance on and for events that can cause an issue. Below are some of the major factors that you can get denied off because of the risk factor involved.
DOES YOUR BUSINESS HAVE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING OPERATIONS AND/OR PRODUCTS?
Boat sales, repair or service
Import or export
Mobile auto services (examples: wash, repair, tire services, etc.)
Open past midnight
Sale of used items (antiques okay)
Sales on consignment
Tire sales (new or used)
Gym or Health Club
Childcare or Adult Daycare
The only one that might pertain to you is "Open past midnight" and if it is open after midnight the company I have a partnership with could not help you either. Also, has to be in one of the 50 States in the United States. However, if none of the above is true then I'd suggest going to make the request than an expert/specialist reaches out to you and you may do this at https://www.primericasecure.com/business/
Page One (Primerica Referring Representative Information):
State: (Drop Down)
Rep's First Name: William
Rep's Last Name: Clements
Solution Number: 63AAY
Click Next and then on there you can click on the kind of coverage you're looking for which in this situation is Property but there is also General Liability, Workers Compensation, Commercial Auto, & PL- E &O (Errors & Omissions) & then "No" under that and then it will ask what business you do do. Then click "Next".
The last two pages will be your business Information & Contact Information so they can call you to discuss the insurance. It is 4 short pages so it will not take a whole lot of your time and who knows, maybe we can help. If not, ask them on the phone if they know any place they can refer you that might actually accept you.
