With regard to the bootstrap, you can check it out online. There are so many tools available out there.
Yes, website design matters, but it's not all that matters. Your website design is your first impression to someone new to your business. We are visual beings, and it is good practice to leverage on that. But of course, website design is just one of the numerous things you should consider.
I visited your site and I have a suggestion, what if you add a screenshot for each template category? Like a portfolio type of layout. Your home page is mostly text, and your layout makes me feel like it's not a user-friendly site. Website design is important, as it is the first thing people/customers see when they "come in" to your website. Having an attractive, easy-to-navigate website will keep them on your site longer (increasing the odds that they purchase something or share pages) and will keep them coming back.
Do not ignore the backside of the site: SEO, link building, etc. These are things that will get new people to your site and increase your rankings in the major search engines. Building a website is not all that difficult these days, and can be done relatively quickly. Building up your SEO and working to keep it effective is much more work, but if done right, can make a huge difference.
Definitely, web design matter. I make money online by creating simple websites on WordPress. Frankly speaking, I'm not a very tech person, though with a variety of web design tools and sources available on the web, I can develop effective websites. I've just discovered a great resource with amazing artist wordpress themes https://www.templatemonster.com/category/artist-portfolio-wordpress-themes/ . They are pretty suitable for any artist's website.
Yes it does matter because, the basic principles of design a website is to consider main things like branding, color theory, and typography which are all instrumental in the website design process. You also need to focus on mobile first approach so that user can easily use your site on their smartphones.
There are lost of bootstrap themes available online, but I think you don't need to change the current theme, just optimized it properly.
