How can I add IDX to my Muse website?
I'm building a real estate website for a client in Adboe Muse. I want to add IDX to the site. Everything I'm reading says that Wordpress is best for IDX. Does anyone know how to integrate the two so that it looks seamless and is also responsive? Ideally, I would rather just add IDX to the muse site, but I also want great SEO. Would love your advice, this is all so new to me. Thank you.
I think I can answer this question based on the two aspects which you mentioned.
Firstly, from a technical point, yes it's easier to have IDX installed in WordPress than in Muse. As there multiple plugins and services which can integrate IDX and MLS feeds to your website, WordPress would be a cost-effective option. On the other hand, if you want to integrate IDX with a Muse website, you may have to hire a web developer and get the job done, which could be a costly affair. However, if you're too particular about Muse and having it get done a lower cost, consider outsourcing this to web design companies in India. If you do a good research, you could find many professional companies and they offer the service at a far cheaper rate.
Secondly, from an SEO standpoint, yes WordPress is more SEO friendly than Muse and there are some good plugins which make this easier too. And if you're planning to have a blog (which is a must from an SEO point), nothing is better than WordPress.
Avoid iFrames at all costs (absolutely no SEO value) ...There are several IDX solutions that integrate with wordpress but you have to first verify that your MLS is within their networks. Before you go to deep into researching features and platforms give the MLS a shout and see who they work with. This will save you alot of time and help narrow down the list. Past that you need to be sure the IDX solution itself is SEO friendly and although most are these days you still need to do your homework. IDX Central/IDX Broker/Diverse Solutions/Real Estate Webmasters is a short list but all work with wordpress I believe.
If you need more help with it just message me and I'll help as best I can. Good luck!
WordPress has a great selection of themes and plugins for real estate. There is so much available, I recommend you checkout the recommendations of MK Safi, the author of Winkpress. He simply does a great job researching plugins, themes, and WordPress solutions. Real Estate is the subject of his talent at http://winkpress.com/real-estate/. Particularly relevant is his discussion of automated ways to publish MLS listings on your site. Typically, any WordPress themes could do this, but some are better at it than others. Or as an internet marketer without a real estate license and MLS access, you may wish to build a real estate site to charge Realtors and property owners for listings. Again, you need to find the right themes for this. They would be different.
dsIDXpress is the IDX feed plugin for WordPress developed by Diverse Solutions. This plugin allows you, as a licensed real estate agent, to pull MLS listings automatically and publish them on your WordPress site in a search-engine-optimized manner.
I don't offer much hope for a Muse solution. Adobe Muse is a product by Adobe Systems. The software is focused on allowing designers to create websites without having to write any code. I couldn't find any evidence that Integrating with specialized software for Real Estate is part of their product vision.
