How can I get people to view my website and comment on their user experience? SurveyMonkey does not allow website views.
I have a website that provides job search resources and sells a job search plan. While I get around 5,000 visitors a month from Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, and have for over 6 months, I still have no sales. I would like to get a group of people to view the website and answer questions about their experience. Is there a tool that can help?
Thanks for all of your help. It has been very useful and I'm putting it into action. Please let me know how I can support each of you!! Kat
This is a three part answer geared towards your desired end, sales from your site, which outweighs and is the reason for your question, yes...so
1. addresses your question 2. addresses both your question and results, and I believe you'll grasp the common sense behind door number 3 very quickly.
1.First, yes you can use Email Brain, which is great for understanding NPS your consumer driven Net Promoter Score..at a cost of 10-99 per year, a worthwhile enhancement to any viable business. when you create a campaign it runs 3 offset campaigns at 5% to 15% based on volume ..Though I do not think it will do much for your bottom line initially.
2 You can hire a market research company such as Panda Research or Toluna, they will pay the consumer, to for and complete a survey regarding their experience on and opinions about your site. Here at least you would be driving a greater potential for harvest, as these are people completing the surveys for money, they need work are utilizing tools they found online for the creation of at least a modicum of income.
3.Your Greatest Visitor Lead Resource...Linkedin, is a well established professionals network, while yes, it does indeed host a resource employer and applicant search venues. The average consumer on Linkedin, is a professional in their own right and as such not typically seeking the type of service which you are providing unless it happens to be a recruiter or something like that..
If your traffic is organic (natural not paid for)) then you should consider adding additional methods. If your visits now are pad traffic, then you should try spending those funds in different environments
Hi kat,
There are a number of usability platforms, that can help you to determine issue that may exist with your website, one of which is usabilityhub.com, this service is free and provides the ability to create a number of tests.
Don't confuse yourself and other people on the thread. What do you want to do? You say you are disappointed that there are no sales, and then you feel the need for feedback on user experience. These two are not as closely related as you are perceiving them to be.
If you want more sales, you need to check if the value proposition is right and you are attracting the right people on your website. I would suggest installing olark on your website if you ar eintent on doing it online, otherwise offline tests work faster.
If you want to gather feedback on user experience, asking the users is the dumbest thing to do. None of your prospective customer has the time or the expertise to tell you what's wrong with your website / landing page. Go to inbound.org and ask people in the community for feedback. Those people design landinm pages, day in and day iut and can probably suggest better. Another thing uyou can do is install visualwebsiteoptimizwr and run A/B tests and track results. There is no netter way to design user experience than to test it. And test it well.
The first thing I would do is dive a little into Google Analytic and see the geographic origin of your visits. Many of my clients have this same issue only to find out that 80% of their traffic is coming from Russia, Pakistan, and China and they only operate locally (most of them bounces as well).
**One note for this, in Google Webmaster, after you verify your website ownership, you can select your target marketing as "United States Only." While this wont prohibit people accessing your website from different countries, it does help. **
The next thing I would do is get people to view my website and then relay their experiences (as you said its not easy to do). My 3 solutions for this:
1) Hire a developer to look at your website. A good developer will be able to see trends across your website, google analytics, and google webmaster.
2) Get an SEO Audit...more common than not, the website was not submitted correctly to search engines after it was built or is blocking search engines from crawling them. An SEO expert will also be able to tell you if your Product titles, Product Page URLs, Product Page titles, Product Descriptions, etc are written in a way that is good for both search engines and people. For example, I had an Auto Part Distributor selling parts by the brand name + given name when the majority of his dealers/clients were looking for the part by the SKU, sometimes its all about consumer & search behavior. That little changed increased his site traffic and revenue over 200%.
3) Facebook Group Polls: Join a ton of groups on Facebook dedicating to website support and support for your industry. In most of these groups you can post your URL and what you need feedback on and plenty of people should help you out. You can also offer "polls" in some groups and that way you can get specific answers for feedback
4) Similar to joining Facebook group, there are a ton of Internet Marketing & Website forums out there similar to this one. Warrior Forum is full of people like this and is website developers like myself use when I need feedback on functionality, aesthetics, etc. (I do believe there is a $10 fee to join)
5) HELLO!!! Ask here on MosaicHUB!!!! You have a huge pool of people here whom have already given you answers to this question. Ask another question and get the feedback you are looking for!
I have a few questions for you - First - who is your target market? What is their age range? Don't tell me everyone - yes, you can service everyone - or all ages - but you have to speak to a certain market - say you are talking to the 25 - 40 age range - but first - go to Facebook - click on your insights and people and see what percentage (the highest percentage) of the age group who are actually looking and reviewing your account - Next - once you have the target audience narrowed down - look at the social networks that the target audience belongs to -
Facebook is there just for information - with the younger set they have a presence but they are on instagram, tumblr, twitter etc. Linked in is a good resource and so is Twitter - but look at the demographics there too. What about Google + and Google - are you registered and verified with Google? You can list all of your url's there as well.
You need to be out there in other places - and you need to be telling people how you can help them? Are you offering tips and tricks? Are you blogging about the many different subjects that come up around job hunting?
Go to www.about.me and set up an account - this is a great "FREE" online directory that you get to describe you - what you do and it allows you to reference all of the sites or url's that belong to you - build up your following there - but really thoroughly fill out the information.
Go to www.tumblr.com and set up a blog for that - you can also sync Facebook and twitter with tumblr - so when you blog to tumblr it automatically syncs with the above mentioned networks
Make sure that your linkedin profile is thoroughly filled out - be descriptive - answer these questions in the profile - and make sure that the profile information is consistent with all the other social networks
Linked in syncs with twitter - (this allows you to build up twitter with little effort) - Linked in allows you to reference (3) websites or urls - so use the ones that you are getting the most traffic - the website - possibly Facebook page and the About.me page
Facebook - make sure that in your profile it is totally filled out and consistent with Linkedin - you can list all of your url's in the profile section - do this!
Twitter doesn't go to anyone - but most of the social networks sync with twitter
Ok, one last thing - if you have a wordpress site - (you need to install "Nextscripts" it is a great plug-in that will sync your blog posts with the social networks of your choosing
So when you blog - the respective social networks are also updated with your blog post - you need to be friendly, informative, and showcase your strengths - this is how I can help you! Are you stuck in a rut? Unemployment running out and no where to turn? Been on a million interviews yet no job has been offered?
Next scripts takes some work - you have to go into each social network and set up an app that will sync using the next scripts format - and will sync with your blog post - but once this is done - you are in business!
Also make sure thru next scripts to register and verify your website with google, bing, yandex, alexa etc. And bring in Lionscripts - a great plugin that allows you to register and verify your site with the major search engines and pinterest too.
Internet marketing is much more than just being on those three social networks -
Hope this help you
Thanks, Judy. My market has really identified itself and is pretty much what I expected and have targeted - 25-45 yo mostly males. I get most of my traffic from Twitter but I suspect the most targeted traffic (jobseekers vs. other career professionals) is from LinkedIn. Working on re-vamping the site over next two weeks with professional help and then will re-focus on social media, taking your advice, in the next week or so. Not on Wordpress but am on about.me but haven't completed profile. Will do.
Your most welcome my dear - I love sharing info and do let me know what you are doing - after your revamping ok? I continue to learn things - the one thing I know what may work for one may not work for others - but the good news is that you can identify and pick what does work for you and expand! Good Luck! Keep me posted - let me know if there is anything else I can help with - sometimes it just helps to have someone that you can spout off to - for me, I will do this - not because I am really seeking advice but just to get the info out - then it helps me to figure things out! :-)
First thing first, your website (http://getajobin90days.com/) isn't that pleasing to eyes and has very simple layouts and color combinations. I understand that you have tried to keep it very simple and plain. But it needs to be more engaging.
Contents - there is too much content on the home page. No matter how much traffic you pull to your site, if users never browse through some other internal pages and straight away bounce back, chances are that they may never return, hence - less chances of sales. The thumb rule of online lead generation, via website, is to make users go through as many pages as possible and consume as much information as possible, but in parts. People never will read all the text we write and tend to be more attracted by relevant images which would explain instead of 3-4 paragraphs.
So, try to rework on the site and content break-ups. And, to make users comment on the user experience or buy free consultation, you never can force by continuously showing pop-up forms or survey. Just keep a link or form somewhere where interested can comment (if interested). There are many options available to run surveys. But, try to build web user email list first. And, you can run a campaign later asking them to comment on website.
Push less, do more marketing, give more contents (free). And, there will be enough traffic, comments and sales.
You don't need a survey to tell you why you're getting 5,000 visitors and no sales, you need a website redesign. I went through the website using the menu on the right side of the page, and have a few suggestions for each page. First, the Home page. Your program sounds like something that should be sold in an infomercial. People are not going to want to spend $10 on another "program" that makes money for the person selling it, but does nothing for them. Make it sound less like am infomercial, and more like something that can help them. Plus, take the blog post off of your home page.
Next, the "JOBquest Resources" - there are no resources there, just links to blog posts. On the "Cool Jobs and Hot Tips" page, you have your Twitter feed. Give readers what you tell them you're giving them, otherwise there is no reason for that page to be there. If they want to see your Twitter feed, they'll visit your Twitter page. On the "Evaluate your plan" page, give a brief description of what the plan should include, then put a radio button at the bottom that links to the actual survey, so visitors can understand what each question is for before doing the survey. On the "Excerpt and Reviews" page, the excerpt is too long - but that's just my opinion. Maybe it can be separated into two pages, or just include one "Day" example.
I didn't go through the entire site, but like Liberace said about his flashy costumes many years ago on the Phil Donahue show, "You have to pay for that".
Thanks for the feedback, Joseph! Under JOBquest Resources, there are over 30 pages of Q and A, tips, etc. Somehow you must have missed it.
I've found testers by placing ads on craigslist, though this is a paid route.
Also, Fiverr has loads of people offering a 15 minute video critique for a few bucks.
I've had about 10 Fiverr user experience reviews and they were great. What's difficult is to get U.S. viewers so I think I've about exhausted that population. My expertise is not in getting jobs outside of the U.S. Hadn't thought about Craigslist. Might try that!!
I think it would be best if you did an email marketing campaign via your twitter, Linkedin and Facebook accounts with a sign up to email link in each of the above. then via the email your client base will grow also it would be advisable to add at the top of your site some meta tags with key words such as job search, jobs, and or specific jobs such as postman jobs etc here is an example of a meta tag
hope this helps
Have you tried adding a live chat facility onto your website? I added a service from www.livechatinc.com last month and am still in the free trial phase. When activated, I am able to see visitor details and enable the visitor to engage in an on line discussion - have already picked up three new clients in 2 weeks.
Olark is a great live chat service as well. They have a free plan that suits most startups.
Please send your URL so we can see what's going on. With all those visits and inbound links, It's hard to know what the problem is!
The website is http://getajobin90days.com. What you will see is the latest iteration. Up until yesterday the guide was bundled with a one hour consultation and membership in a Facebook members only virtual job group at various price points: $49, $105, $80 over the last year. So I just unbundled. The book sells (infrequently) on Amazon in paperback or Kindle for $10. The sad part about the whole thing is that I have done this for years and my methods work. My goal: help some people get back to work and set up $2000/mo revenue stream for my retirement.
Do you have an up-to-date email list? Are you able to create a pop-up survey for your site? You have a great quiz on your site, I think it should be on your landing page, or linked in an obvious way. Ask for email addresses before you let people take the quiz to build a list for re-marketing. I think the site usability could be improved. Consider a call to action and possibly getting some professional help to make your visual presentation more polished.
Thanks, Ann, that quiz is very popular. I can embed email address requests or popups. I'll take your advice!
I would say check out observepoint.com I know they used to have a service that will test out site and give you feedback about the user experience
Thanks so much for responding, Neil. I'm actually not seeking to see if things work, but more how users feel on the site, what encourages/discourages them from buying, etc.
Rick, usabiity hub is fantastic!! Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much. How can I support you? Kat
