How can I get traffic to my newly designed gift basket website?
I redesigned my gift basket website earlier this year and have been working on all the tags, description and content. I need more traffic but don't want to spend a ton of money on advertising.
Definitely get on Google My Business. Do a little keyword research to see what keywords concerning gift buying people search for the most. Make sure you target this keyword in your Google My Business listing. For the cheapest traffic, you'll want to advertise on Facebook. Google ads are good for making conversions but not for driving tons of traffic like social media sites are. For just $5 a day you could be getting 350 people to your site a week if you set your ads up right.
Keyword research. This is an overused term, but it's true. Figure out what lengthy keyword phrases people are searching for each month that you can rank your site for. This is critical. You want real phrases people are using, but phrases that are not so common that people like Amazon are trying for them.
I just did a 50-minute long video that takes anyone through this process. It's free to watch on the Outer Gain (outergain.com) blog. Check it out! You'll be glad you did.
Have you created a Google My Business listing and Google Analytics?
Google Analytics results would be useful in working out where you are in the rankings and which way you are moving.
So, I have the same thing going on in my new website. I made sure I created profiles to different business directories like yellow pages and manta. It will let people know that your website is existing and you can also create a more detailed google my business profile and make some more SEO stuff.

Keep updated on google my business and social media platforms, it will be helpful for your business. First, target your locals and post ads on classified sites and list your business.
Yes, Marilyn, these are the basic things required to drive traffic to the website but its depend on how you implemented them to generate quality results. It would be great if you implement them properly according to your targeted audience then you will get good results.
As you mentioned it's your newly designed website and you are selling gifts there. Your niche is best for social media marketing.
Because your potential customer has no age limit. Customers can be male or female, kids/young or mature, can be sent to any festival, events at any time.
So you have full opportunity to get traffic from every kind of audience. As I have written before you can start with social media marketing. If you will target organic traffic or traffic from search engines then, in that case, you will have to face too many hurdles.
Like search for your any gift projects. In search results, there will be e-commerce websites like Amazon, Etsy etc. So you have to work for minimum 6-9 months to compete with them. Because in that time you have to build your authority and all of the stuff according to SEO guidelines. So you go with social media.
Use article writing and guest post services. That will cut your hard work in promoting the website.
So a couple of things that have worked for us include: Adding your business name, address and phone number to as many directories on the internet as possible. I also recommend setting up social profiles for your business and use those social accounts to promote your site (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest for sure). The other thing that has worked well is reaching out to other area businesses and asking them to link to your website. The Chamber of Commerce is a good link to get. All of these suggestions will add value and traffic to your website. These are considered off-page enhancements. What you have done so far is on page enhancements, which is also very important to do!
