What tips do you have for improving a website's ranking in an organic way?
I'm hoping to improve my website's ranking on Google. What marketing strategies should I follow? Are there any types of free ads I can utilize?
I recommend building high-quality backlinks to your website by submitting your URL to business directories. This will serve as a positive search ranking signal to Google. And you should definitely create a Google My Business page if you haven't yet.
There are paid services available to automate this process for you -- namely Manta, Yext, and Moz Local. Or you can hire a freelancer on Fiverr to do it for you on the cheap.
It's not difficult if you have the time on your hands. It's important to look for directories that provide you a do-follow link to your website.
Here's a list of online business directories to get started.
Hopefully this helps you!

According to my experience, first of all, it is important to fix technical website issues, focus on qualitative and unique content, optimize your webpages to rank higher and then work on external links to increase your authority.
It seems lots of work?:) I would advice to start on basic stuff and do improving step-by-step. Also don't forget to measure your SEO efforts and online performance with rank tracker.
The following 10 short and little tips will help to increase search engine rankings:
Ryan gives some really good tips, but I'd also recommend utilizing Google's Search Console, otherwise known as web master tools, which help expose your site to Google and encourage their bots to crawl through your site more quickly -especially if you've made efforts to build up the quality of your content.
I'd also tell you that Google likes to see sites that have a good bit of traffic, so using social media, email marketing, or old-fashioned PR to drive more people to your site, can help increase your overall authority.
When it comes to improving rankings there are a few things that you need to focus on improving: Authority on the chosen topic you're trying to rank for and relevance for that topic. Both are pretty closely related. Building authority is often accomplished by improving the content on your website to more thoroughly provide answers on that topic. If you have a website with a page dedicated to that topic, make it longer, make it answer more questions about the topic, add relevant imagery to give Google more content to crawl. Then build relevance by adding supplemental relate content to your website. If you are a lawyer and your main objective is to perform for "Sydney divorce lawyer" you can add pages to your website about other related services to that topic. If you are a dentist, you can create pages to target things like teeth whitening, cavity filling, etc.
The next step is to get links from other websites to yours. Other websites mentioning and hyperlinking to your website shows Google that you are a trusted and referenced source of information on the topic the page is targeting. If you can get websites from other sites that are relating contextually to yours, that would be a better case scenario than just any website out on the web. The topical relevance forms a stronger relationship in Google's eyes and will likely pass on more value!
Hope that's helpful, cheers!
