How do you generate leads from LinkedIn Groups?
I am curious how others use social media and social networks to generate leads. I used to like LinkedIn Answers and Groups, but they got rid of Answers and they just released their new navigation and groups are being buried. Seems like they are moving to being just your online resume and helping people find jobs. Social media is important, but I am just getting my feet wet.
It is always your marketing pitch, for how you can deliver the best for the badly needed and worst required.... Always pitch your idea and offer your services in a way your clients might be looking into it
I contact executives through Linkedin. It's been great for me. As far as online marketing, I would caution you not to expect too much immediate short term results. Most online leads yield "functional" staff. They are great for nurturing and building fans but not a replacement for engaged decision makers.

You develop really nice looking bags and maybe you can think of adding your product images on images sharing websites like Pinterest. It will facilitate community building and likes will soon convert into leads.

There are a number of ways you can drive leads through social media. I hasten to add I am no expert on all channels and ways to do it but one way is to utilise new unique social surveys, clients are able to sponsor questions on the survey to drive traffic to their preferred destinations.
Using the technology behind our social survey also enables us to develop bespoke landing pages for our clients & targeting a new unique audience that have until now been impossible to collect.
We target users through key words that they use in their social media to then trigger the relevant andvert within their pages to increase conversions.
As I say I am by no means an expert in all areas of social media however this is one way that I use it to drive leads
Its all about how we use social media. If we use it to promote and push sales that will not bring leads, however if we use it to increase visibility by informing, educating and staying engaged with connections; then that will bring leads... its a long term project, but I found that it will bring results.

Taking advantage on social media is one of the sweetness of internet today. It is indeed a good tool to generate lead if you know how to work on it properly. For me, it is very important to develop your profile into something like a "wow factor" that you might be able to obtain quality traffic to view whatever is in your profile and social media timeline. It is very important also to build a strong reputation that would testify your legitimacy in providing useful information or even services. You need to capture viewers' interest and attention. And if you caught their attention & interest, it'll most likely turn into a lead. However, this will depend on what market you are in to. I am also trying to discover everything about social media, I might be wrong but this is what I knew so far. Hope it is helpful.
Carrie, I have to disagree on the direction of Linkedin... as the Groups are significant part of developing your expertise, your personal and/or business brand, and your community...which then can translate into leads as well as network. But you have to be purposeful, genuine and contribute value to those discussions.. but trust me, I have received numerous leads, direct, as a result.
As far as social media.. you have to have a clear idea of who you niched target customer is...and then ask yourself 'where do they hang out'...as not everyone is everywhere, i.e. my target is corporate professional women and the companies they work for. I have found Corporate Women are not on Facebook or Twitter, except on a personal family basis. They are on Linkedin and other business forums. The companies; they will engage more productively on twitter, than on facebook and Linkedin.
Define your target customer and then find out where they hang out for the types of messaging you provide. Then follow Josie (FB) input below.... as far as the type of messaging to them.
It all depends on what you're trying to sell and the industry you're targeting.
Having said that, establishing a solid network and finding leads are two different things.
A "network" is useful for learning and sharing new ideas, finding the right support, mentors, and direction...then maybe customers down the road.
As for leads, those would be "future customers". There is a "classified" feature in MosaicHub that has some function as Linkedin's old "Answers", where people post their immediate needs.
That also will depend on the product/service you're trying to sell.
For example, if it is for high-end handbags, then that's a Business-to-Consumer high-end area, and MosaicHub or even Linkedin wouldn't be efficient in finding customers. But say if you were looking to franchise, or looking for distributors, then Social Media would be a good resource in finding the right channels towards a lead, not directly the lead. Did this make any sense? (I'm typing this in a rush :) ).
I continue to find LinkedIn to be the most valuable social tool for building a strong network. In my area of expertise, cultivating a network of individuals in key positions of influence is critical.
With regard to growing your specific business, I would suggest contacting Criteo. They provide advertiser solutions on a CPC basis specifically geared to your type of offerings (apparel) and they use retargeting to improve the conversions that you receive. Before working with any lead generation source, determine the cost per acquisition (CPA) target that you need to achieve to profitably obtain a customer, from there you can easily "test, measure, and learn" what lead generation solutions work for you.
Carrie, as with everything pertaining to doing business online whether branding, promoting, marketing, it starts with social engagement.
The business paradigm has changed. In the past it was business first .i.e- getting that sale- and everthing after. Doing business online have changed. As the old Chinese proverb say "Dig Your Well Before You Are Thirsty" .
So first and foremost focus on building communities around , not your product per se, but around your interests/passions. Hopefully, your business and your passion would be one and the same.
Those whom You draw to You in your communities make up your stakeholders. Stakeholders have an interest in your product. They are future joint venture partners, afiliate marketers, super fans, clients, supppliers etc. These-are the people who will spread the word about your business. And they are the one who will sign up for your email list. This is where Your leads will come from.
They will be the people You share/exchange links with. They will share your articles across their networks. They will do joint ventures - such as webinars, guest posts, share their resources with You and send your name out to their mail-ling lists. Its in these ways and more that You get leads.
Its also true that You can get leads from buying a list but You would still have to create a relationship of some sort with them. According to those in the know- people on email lists will only purchase your product after You have earned their trust and that again requires a few things:
1. Providing relevant information
2. No spamming them
3. Giving them value
4. And being consistent with all of the above.
So they buy after the 8th or so email You send to them.
