How much should I charge for the design of a pull up banner and a step and repeat wall?
I am interested in pricing information on the appropriate amount to charge for the above design projects. Thanks.
It's a question I ask myself every time I develop a proposal. There are many factors / answers to that question. I look at the following:
1) Is this a large client that has money
2) Is this a one-time project or can it be multiple projects (can I group the projects for "better" pricing)
3) How bad to I want the project
4) Is it a good web portfolio piece
5) What is the project worth (can I get more)
6) What is the competition charging (or would charge)
7) KEY: What is my rate and how long will it take to develop
Good Luck
Hi Peggy. This is a great question, as the answer is not so cut and dry. The final price for concept and design should be determined by the amount of exposure the displays would have. For example, would this be for a regional trade show, or an international one? Would the art be used for other marketing material? If we're talking about a single-use, small market situation, prices (before out-of-pocket expenses) could range from $500 to $1,500. For displays with greater exposure (international), I would expect to charge between $1,500 and $5,000. Additional usage (i.e other marketing material) should be billed additionally, on a per-use basis.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hi Peggy,
The pricing is what is being charged in the market for a similar service so you need to discuss people in the same industry .It is at times good to have connections in your direct competitors also.
People and friends in the same profession may also help.
Best of luck,

the only way to answer this question is if you already know in detail exactly what you're going to do. It isn't the end product that should determine the price, it's the work that goes into it. You have to think about each process you have to perform in order to get a complete project to know what's appropriate. If it's just a solid color background with text that you can do in a few minutes that would be one price as opposed to if you had to crop somebody out of a photo then place them in front of another photo that you had to purchase with text that has some sort of effect that you had to tediously apply. Then there's whether or not the banner will be an animation or just a still photo.
If you and the customer decided you were going to just put together a couple samples and let them see it and you'll go forwards from there STOP RIGHT NOW and have another sit down to go over the goals to be achieved with the designs and come up with ideas for achieving them through visual expression and build a concept around it that you both agree will be successful. If they don't want to do that politely decline the project and move on. Doing things that way will ALWAYS have you up in the air never knowing what to do or what to charge. If you have agreed upon a concept, add the details here so we can outline the individual tasks required to create the designs and we'll be able to better gauge what should be charged. As of right now your post is too vague to be able to pin point something more valuable to say that will actually be relevant to your circumstance. Tell us more and we'll be able to help more. :)
