We want to expand our business in USA and Europe. Looking for expert advice from community members.
This is Sridhar, Founder, and CEO of Onlythree Digital Marketing Company, Chennai, India.
Most of the global work is not being outsourced to one of the 3 regions - Eastern Europe, India, other parts of Asia like the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. From my personal experience, I can tell you what worked for me.
-Find a niche
Don’t try to aim at all kinds of outsourced work. Clients are not stupid and they know you cannot excel in everything. This is where a lot of companies fail. See where you and your team can add the maximum value and go for the kill.
-Have an awesome customer support person/team
There is nothing like having someone in a team who understand the nuances of the other person’s life and connect at different levels. There is an instant trust. Moreover, having better communication means you are able to deliver much better. The specifications and requirements are understood in a better way at all levels.
-Ensure the key people in the company are on LinkedIn
Most clients do a check on LinkedIn / social media to ensure “basic checks” are met. Keep profile filled as much as possible and up to date.
-Get customer references on your website / LinkedIn
-Last but probably the most important one
-Be professional and maintain deadlines
This is one area where a number of companies in India and other low-cost areas are not able to score. I visit a number of conferences across the globe and this is probably the biggest rant that clients abroad have. Not keeping the word, bad communication of estimates (trying to be too aggressive to get the project or too lenient to be safe)
-In case you are a freelancer and looking for projects, you can always like Upwork, Freelancer or one of the other similar sites, but bear in mind that people would not pay that much on those sites just because the supply of skills is quite high so clients will have bargaining power.
I hope this helps you.
