How to rapidly increase your twitter followers?
I want to rapidly increase my followers on twitter .
want to use white hat methods only .
Kindly advice . heard the twitter directories do get you followers , but is it legal , is it like SEO for Social?
The fastest way to always get followers is to follow first! People want to know you're on Twitter for genuine connection.
I would also say, that not to follow randomly, but use Twitter's advanced search ( https://twitter.com/search-advanced) to reach out to people who you're genuinely interested in following/connecting with, or those who you feel could benefit from your product and services.
My first question to you, John, is why do you want to rapidly increase your twitter followers? What do you expect to accomplish by rapidly increasing the amount of followers? For one thing, do you have any idea just how worthless the majority of Twitter followers are? Do you have any idea how many Twitter handles are bots, or fictitious accounts that will offer you no value whatsoever? If your goal is to gain a wider audience, I wouldn't approach it by trying to rapidly increase your audience as quickly as possible. That is not an organic or productive way at expanding an audience that actually cares about your product. I don't believe in shortcuts. And I don't believe in supporting companies or people whose goal it is to rapidly increase their followers. Good luck to you.
I'm going to completely disagree with buying followers. It's fraudulent and people can tell. It damages your reputation. The key to getting followers is to provide create content. If you read a great article, tweet the link. And when you tweet, tag people in them so they see what you wrote and may retweet it, and follow you. People use Twitter for information. So focus on giving them quality information. I have over 5000 followers and I've never pitched a thing. Maybe 5000 followers isn't a lot, but every single one is interested in what I have to say and respond by contacting me through my website. I provide great content, they are interested in following me, then they contact me to work with them. Be authentic. No shortcuts in this game or you'll be exposed. And only then you'll realize cheating the system never works and you always be exposed eventually.
I have 700+ followers because I retweet articles on substantial information: news, education, politics, health, psychology, etc. A large % of my followers are considered power users too. I'd be afraid I'd get in trouble if I bought Twitter followers; plus I'm too poor anyway. I'm @bohemiotx if the description of my site sounds like it's good.
100% Chad, my disgust towards "Buying" "Followers" couldn't be stronger. If there's one thing you need to do to really hurt yourself, and ultimately skew what analytics you'd receive from Social Media, it is to buy followers or "Likes".
I have built clients twitter base from the ground up and hit the 1000s of followers within a couple of weeks without spending a penny on buying fake followers. You need to build your brand, identify your niche, voice and run with it - when you start to have fun with Social Media, that is when you attract followers naturally.
If you're dead set on investing money to grow your following then you should look at Twitter Ads, they are efficient, and if you set your campaign up right you can end up paying 15-18 cents per follow (that's pretty darn good).
My two cents.
Tweet more and make sure to mention people's names when you tweet and they are relevant. Get on people's radars through Twitter. Advertising is probably the most time-effective way, but if you're targeting specific lists or people on Twitter, then tweet their content, mention them, add them, etc.
The quickest way to increase your Twitter followers is to advertise on Twitter. Results might vary, but I've paid between $.30 to $.50 on average to increase followers from real accounts.
Organically, you need to tweet more, follow more, follow back more, and engage more. No shortcuts - but it shouldn't be hard to do once you get the knack of it.
Hi John- remember that it's all about the quality of followers, and not the quantity...I represent a bevy of pop culture icons in social media, and can share with you that the #1 best practice to growing your community at Twitter is to be yourself, have something relevant, useful and interesting to say, and you'll grow your network. You don't mention what you do, or what marketing/branding message you are trying to position, but in 140 characters (using relevant #hashtags) you can have your messaging directed to those most interested (you want people to follow you that support your branding/messaging)...Yes, there are always going to be apps and people that want to game the system, but you need to establish your brand first.
Think of it like Match.com for growing your network-DEFINE WHO YOUR TARGET followers are (target market), and then IDENTIFY where they are..what common traits/keywords do they have in common with you? Follow and converse with those in your target, and you'll be on your way...
Use relevant hashtags (carry a research on that). Share quality and helpful information. Ask questions and then share the links as answers. Ask questions from the individuals you are following... This is an organic way to increase followers at Twitter... Participate in discussions... make others realize you know your stuff!
First of all, do you know if your target market and ideal client really pays attention to twitter? If not then you need to find out.
If you do chose to go with it, then you need to tweet regularly but don't go overboard and make sure you have something of value to say.
And as others mentioned, follow more people and tweet more.
Twitter is cheap, but it sure ain't free. There are no real shortcuts to gaining followers assuming you want real followers and not just inflated numbers from click farms and "teamfollowback" members. As others have said, you have to provide a reason for folks to follow. Maybe it's the info you link to, maybe it's your humorous take on the day's events. But unless you happen to produce something that hits it big virally and attracts folks, it'll be a bit of a slog. But quality trumps quantity. After nearly five years, my @leeclowsbeard account has 36k followers, (which I consider successful for the niche audience it targets), and I only tweet once a day. Good luck.
Hi John ~
WHY do you want to rapidly increase your Twitter followers? Engagement and value is much more beneficial, even to a smaller audience, both for you and those who follow you. Besides, having a huge number of inactive or fake followers (the first being real users who are no longer actively Tweeting), renders the number of followers meaningless on many accounts. I often wonder whether those accounts that have 40k followers but only 350 Tweets have simply purchased them.
Follow (!) the advice others have offered here about following people/companies in your niche, strategic use of hashtags, mentioning people by name, endorsing followers you like to others via the #FF (Follow Friday) feature, and most importantly, Tweeting relevant, useful — and, when appropriate, humorous — content that helps them, and you will see your follower count increase organically over time, with people who really want to see what you are Tweeting. Good luck!
You have to put in the work. Good things come to those who work hard and achieve it. The best way to gain Twitter followers is to put in great content. Content is king! The better content you post, the more people will follow and retweet.
I saw this article the other day. Maybe it helps :)

According to a recent Forrester report, what works best is a mix of owned, earned & paid.
Example:
Owned: Have an optimized profile & send out good & relevant tweets regularly
Earned: Follow relevant people, use hashtags, reply, RT etc. = engage
Paid: Pay for promoted tweets or promote your account
Compelling content: give people a reason to want to see your tweets. Information, deals, interesting and/or funny comments or images, inspiration. And, add hashtags ## !
Unless you're famous the best way to rapidly increase Twitter followers is doing something crazy or our of the ordinary.
Other than that you can try getting yourself listed in directories. If you tag yourself properly then you have good chance of getting targeted followers. However you wont see a huge increase using this method.
Another thing usually tried by brands is Twitter contests. You can try a service like Rafflecopter so your competition can go viral. If you offer a good/expensive prize then you'll probably see a rapid growth from this but the quality of the followers might vary.
Another methods is to use some Twitter software to find the right followers. For example a software like TweetAdder will help you find follower based on keywords, location, language etc. This way you have a targeted list of followers so there is a high chance of them following you back when you follow them.
I have covered these methods and more in detail in a blog post. Do check it out if you're interested. http://rumblinglankan.com/2072/increase-twitter-followers-fast/
I am not a great tweeter but I do get many, far too many requests from other tweeters to be you followers. Accept one that you think is useful and you will get a display of similar people you may be interested in. i am sure that you know that already.
Be simple offer opinions on issues like Obama Care offer new ideas about how you feel about issues like the Ferry that sunk off south Korea with 100's of students on it subscribe to the free Huffington post Linkedin Pulse that you care about of understand.
John, read Jon Thorsteinsson's and Neal Schaffer's comments. Then visit https://copromote.com/ and sign up for free. WHY you want to increase is irrelevant, because in Social Media audience is everything- as you already know. Your message is meaningless if you're shouting in an empty room!
Good Luck and Carry On,

As mentioned by everyone, get some good stuff to tweet.
Tactically, tweet is a few times since not everyone reads them when you do publish it.
Agreed! I'm saddened by the buying followers fad! Twitter works when you use it as it was designed to be used.
