I have a crowdfunding campaign ad which I post to my network sites. How do I get these folks to re-post the ad to their networks (go viral)?
It's a small print ad with a live link in it leading people to my pavilion on a crowdfunding site. Right now I actually have language in the ad about "please re-post to your facebook, linked in, etc. sites and status updates." I can't offer these people money at present -- but I could pay them something when and if we reach our goal. I've used Fiverrs before, but there doesn't seem to be anyone who can help me with this. I am certain that the answer to this question would benefit a great many people. Thank you for your consideration and wisdom. - Douglas
The key is the content, then the channel.
Numerous research studies have found that social sharing is triggered when the audience's emotions are activated in a positive way. The higher the emotional valence the more likelihood of social sharing. You need to think about your campaign from this perspective and re-tell your story in a way that generates an emotional response.

WIFM...what's in it for them [me]? Give them something they want for sharing.
Insert a share app button into your post offering something of use or value related to your biz or the campaign. After their share direct to link with the contact info input to invest or not, either way get them to register for the 'value' item.
If they give you nothing other than their email, you begin building a list of folks who give a hoot about your business to begin with.
There are some very good suggestions in this thread, and I think you could get pretty far with many of them. I particularly like the addition of a graphic. I think however that you need to dig a little deeper into your campaign and try to figure out what is really in it for the audience. People need a reason to re-post, what’s in it for them? It can’t just be money, because most people would think that untrue or maybe not lucrative. So you need a catch, what would make them re-post? Maybe a contest? Maybe a prize for most re-posts? Increase the stakes a little. Also, I would message your would-be posters and actually ask them personally if they would do this for you. All too often we are sent chain letters or asked to re-post things and our credibility is on the line. So find out what your audience really wants and ask for their help.
Go to freelancer.com or elance.com and post your project requirements and wait for the bids to come in. you can contact each of the persons/firms directly and decide which one can best project your requirements in the best way. You will be pleasantly surprised how many people will put their hands up to do your job and you can get their quotes straight away. Just make sure you dont sign on for any small print memberships. HI Doug. have you tried including a graphic which depicts the Twitter, FB, LinkedIn and/or a share button?
That would provide a visual. The other thing I suggest is to target your audience specifically to who you think will be receptive the particular subject matter.
Maybe you are not reaching your target audience.
If you don't know who that is you will have to do some research.
@Matthew Purisima watch out if you are sharing on FB as their policy does state now that you can not use an incentive to get people to share your content on FB specifically. You CAN email them asking them to share the content though. Just be careful with your wording.
I use GroSocial to create the tab pages for things like this as well.
I'd offer that you consider "who" you are asking. If your ad is general asking anyone to share may be the problem in itself. Strategically target individuals whom you believe share a common interest with your campaign. Inbox them privately and thank them for their continued connection and support and then update them on the progress of your campaign by informing them how close (or far away) you are to establishing your goal. Personality wins hands down.
To get re-posts, create a "spread the word" share page on Facebook or LinkedIn. You can also add social share buttons to your page and try TweetmeMeme & Retweet buttons in Facebook and LinkedIn to mention just a few of many options. Good Luck ! You should make the fact that you can produce some sort of payment or incentive upon sharing..it gives people a reason to share the link. Decide what that perk will be and post "supporters who share the link and help get us to our goal will receive such and such when goal is reached!" Or something along those lines. Keep track of who shares and compile a list, so when the time comes, you know who to thank. Let us know how it goes!
There are so many factors that create a "viral" effect. It depends on the size and participation of your networks and the amount of social capital you have built up in a social reputation. There is no silver bullet.
How long ago did you launch? What is your goal? What crowdfunding site? I would have had my social media in place before launching, since Crowdfunding is social media fueled. Has it already gone out to your personal networks?
Promote it to those within your network as a means to make some cash and watch you’re in box light up. People want to find the easiest way to make money. As long as they do not have to do allot they are in!
Tell your network just that. You need their assistance and those that give a few minutes of their time MAY receive a surprise for their efforts. This way you get to pick and choice who you give what you give.
Or find a way to assign each a way to know who generated the most responses. Add a simple referral link to the bottom of each post will identify who re-sent the post. Then you can go back and reward those that provided the greater leads/re-posts.

Have you posted it in facebook groups? Another great thing to do is cross promote and share other peoples businesses so they have an immediate incentive to share yours.
