I have a new product for the market, how do I get it out there?
I am looking to attract new clients worldwide in the paddle boarding industry. I would appreciate any advise on how to get this consumer product out there.
If your target is global then figure out partners in each location for distribution . If i were you , i would first map all the beach locations across the globe, then boil it down to the locations were Watersport is active. I would then focus on the top 20% locations and get in touch with sellers of Watersports goods and pitch the product.
The next step is to get the TOP OF MIND AWARENESS of the brand among the surfers. I would get into Display Advertisements in websites which are related to WaterSports and when the customer clicks he should be diverted to your website which should give the person relevant info of where he could buy the product.. Do ensure you retarget this customer through Google Retargetting to ensure he sees your brand whichever site he goes to and this will help you in getting better conversions.
Need to know more to property answer your question. Is the product a physical or information product? Can it be shipped? Does it require installation and training? What about after the sale service?
Trade shows would be one way. Making contact with some of the major chain stores and making sales calls to them would be another. Customers with lots of stores such as Dick's Sporting Goods and others that are similar would be my suggestion. You could take on some Manufacturer's Reps who call on customers in your field and work on a commission basis. Finding them could take some effort but if you wanted to go that route you may find some through industry magazines or a trade association such as MANA (Manufacturers Agents National Association) which covers many fields and there could be an association specifically for sporting goods but I don't know for sure on that.
Start by compiling lists of outfitters and make a few calls to find out who the purchasing agents are for that territory. After awhile the red tape gets thinner.
What are you looking to achieve: get into surf and sporting goods stores, get vacation destinations to purchase your product, or get consumers to but it — or all of the above? Each will require a different plan, strategy and tactics.

Use one of the inexpensive press release services with national and international distribution describing your product. Develop a Facebook page, run a contest for followers to upload their personal photos and images. Offer a prize for the most unique place on earth for paddle boarding.
Find your niche that you want to highlight. The question you need to answer is "How are my products different/better/more attractive than what else is out there?", then use this answer to direct your marketing campaign.

This is a very big question and one that's can't be fully answered here but here goes.
You need a marketing strategy that at least includes the following.
1) Define your target personas. Consumers, retailers and wholesale distributors
Consumers - what's in it for them? What do they want to see?
Retailers and distributors - What's in it for them?
2) Build a website that your personas will respond along with content relevant to them
3) Develop a marketing strategy for each of your target personas
Once you understand WHO you are marketing to, then you can decide the tactics to use.
This can include but not limited to:
Content marketing: images, text, video
Social media engagement
PPC and other paid advertising
Sponsorship of SUP pros and sponsoring events
and the list goes on...Before you choose the tactics, you need to define your buyer personas so you know as much as you can about your customer.
