How do I get my business recognized quickly on social media?
I'm opening my own business that will cater to different areas of home improvement and/or maintenance. To start, I've been advertising on social media. How do I get my business recognized quickly?
There are already some good answers for you, but I wanted to go a bit deeper and detailed for you.
As far as posting. Post pictures of work you've done (that may be obvious) but explain WHERE you did the work and some details that make you stand out from your competitors. Being a woman based business is one of them.
Also, post pictures of yourself working and your team. Making yourself personal, creates trust quicker.
Use hashtags on Instagram. You are allowed 30. Research them! For example, #homeimprovementNJ #maintenance4women (I just made those up to give you an idea). In Instagram, you can enter an idea in the search and see what comes up. Use hashtags for your area (city and state), and however far you travel.
Follow accounts that are in your area.
In your bio, ALWAYS put your location and contact info.
Also, you can run campaigns, with coupons or "10% off work in October".
The last thing is posting videos. Use your phone, a quick 20-second video of how you fix something or a before and after is always good. You love what you do and proud of your work. Let it show!!!
Make sure you are listed in Yelp and Google My Business.
Good luck with your business!
Have you claimed your FREE Google My Business listing? Other search engines such as Bing and Yahoo have similar free listings.
The number one rule on social media: Never look for quick fixes.
Instead, focus on building a long-term relationship with your audience, readers, followers, leads, influencers or customers. Invest time in real-time interactions and whichever platform you chose, pay attention to the audience and their behavioral patterns.
In terms of home improvement and/or maintenance, the platform that stands out is PINTEREST. Pinterest is gaining a lot of momentum lately and it has added a lot of new marketing features too to facilitate business. You can share before and after home improvement pictures, target women (a majority of the population on Pinterest) and benefit from Pinterest’s built-in ads (pixel integration), etc.
I believe Pinterest could be a great start. But if you have resources, you can venture into blogging as well. Work with relevant blogs to market and expand your reach. Introduce your business and grow organic reach over time. It will also help you improve your website’s authority in search rankings.
Hope this helps!
First, congrats on your new venture.
Social media is a great platform for any business and you should post regularly good content related to your business.
-Create a business page and post content daily
-Use paid promotion on FB and social for fast results
-Join a few good groups on social media and post about your business regularly
-Post your business on classified posting websites and share on social media
-Make videos when you work for home improvement/maintenance while client premises and post on YouTube and social media
These are the best way to promote your business.
Best of luck.
As per my experience, you have to start with making business pages on different social media websites. After joining and creating pages you have to start joining the biggest groups that are related to your business. Write content and share on social media groups and website to grab more attention for your business.
If you want to go for paid media promotion then you have to buy a few promotion packages provided by social media websites.
Share your business information with groups or you can create own groups on different social media websites.

Hi, I can recommend Twitter, it's one of the best social networks!
The moment Twitter was launched, businessmen and women saw a golden opportunity to market their products or services. For some, social media marketing via this venue has been highly successful. For others, little, if any, sales increases have been realized. So what are each of these groups doing differently? It just may be their strategy and approach.
There is a fine line between how many tweets are just the right amount, how many are too few, and how many are too much. If you update infrequently, you may not be noticed. Too often, and you may be considered a spammer and lose followers at a rapid rate. The best course of action when using Twitter for marketing is to settle on somewhere in the middle. This topic is discussed in depth in the Twitter Marketing Beginner's Guide.
What your tweets say is also extremely important. More than anything else, your followers will want to read something of value. Helpful articles and information are a great option, as are coupon codes and links to products that are on sale. When you mix helpful information in with your standard sales driven tweets, you will achieve a higher level of success.
Posting the best tweets will only take you so far if you do not take the time to interact with your followers. People want to know that they are heard, and should you choose to not respond to their questions or comments, chances are the "unfollow" button will be used. Interacting does not be time-consuming. Just a few minutes each day spend responding to questions and comments should suffice. These, as well as other Twitter tactics are discussed on the TopRank blog article: 5 Steps To Build A Twitter Marketing Strategy.
If you are in need of more followers, do take the time to place a link to your Twitter account on your website. You should also include a small blurb about why people should follow you. For example, if you will be offering special discounts to your Twitter followers, tell them so. Placing a link alone will not do much unless you receive massive amounts of traffic. Obviously, if you are already receiving massive amounts of traffic, Twitter may only be an afterthought for you.
Indeed, both a right and wrong way to use Twitter for marketing purposes exist. Getting the most out of this social media giant will only require that you follow just a few basic guidelines mentioned here, and are consistent with your approach. Though there will likely be new trends and marketing methods used for Twitter in the future, these basic common sense approaches will not change.
Good luck in promoting your site!
