My Google page rank is 0. How can I improve it?
Hi, I recently built a taxi site for a client and had kept about 200 keywords in each page. My client has another website, which is older he kept only 5 words on it and it is a single page with not much content, yet it is at the top when searched in Google. Whereas the site I built has lots of keywords, headings, pictures, relevant information, a sitemap, is responsive and it's coming on page 7-8 in Google search. It's been only 5 days since I published the site. What have I done wrong? Or will it take time to improve the ranking? Should I add more keywords? This is some of the information that shows the status of my website:
domain analysis for:
muscat-taxi.net
Google PageRank: 0/10
Domain Authority: 1/100
Page Authority: 1/100
Global Rank: 0 Alexa USA Rank: 0
Alexa Reach Rank: 0 Alexa Site Links: 0
External Backlinks: 0
Referring Domains: 0
EDU Backlinks: 0
GOV Backlinks: 0
PR Quality: Very Weak
Domain Age: 5 days (registered on 04.09.2015 )
Thanks for your advice.
I have provided a lot of tips about SEO please check here http://www.knigulper.com/search/label/SEO i hope this will help you to some extent.
Note that achieving good ranking takes time, effort and good old fashioned hard work. Here are a few steps to get you started.
1. Connect your website to several social networks and remain active responding to comments, likes and setting up webinars.
2. Connect your page to your blog.
3. Maintain a weekly blog post.
4. Connect your web pages to an interactive app.
5. Set up a discussion board on your site and keep it active.
6. Write articles linked to your websites pages and post them across several news syndicates.
Overtime you will see traffic, hits and reach grow exponentially. In time your page rank will as well. Download a website SEO marketing business plan for more detailed instructions. Regarding more intense marketing methods please see the marketing plan... http://businessplans.fimark.net/direct_sales_business_plan.html
First of all for your kind information the page rank is not important nowadays in SEO. You can focus on increasing Page Authority PA for your site quality.
You will get quality backlink from your industry relavance.
Improving your PageRank is a very challenging task that can take months. But the simple, quick answer is: get popular, quality sites to link to your site.
The long answer is look at Google's rankings factors and try to improve your ranking for the most important ones. Moz has an excellent list of what SEO experts think Google values the most. It's not perfect but it's generally seen as accurate: https://moz.com/search-ranking-factors
As far as how to get backlinks for your site, that's the tough part of SEO. My quick advice is to be creative and to create a great product.
Hi Vamsi,
There could be a number of factors, but the main one I see is the age of your domain. Being only 5 days old, there has probably been very few visitors and even less back links to each page, or your site as a whole.
PA is a huge factor here and is updated the more a page is crawled by G's robots. If you want it to crawl more often, and thus get higher PA, you will need to get more eyes on each page and more links pointing to them. I would also look at your inner site linking structure as PA is distributed through links to other pages. Thus, having a proper linking structure will help to distribute your page authority across more of your site, which will help your SEO efforts in general.
Quality content is key on any informational page. Create something that people will want to read and the backlinks should start coming in. Promote your content with other sites and on social media. If it is good, people will notice.
Also remember this is a marathon and not a sprint. You won't see huge ranking improvements right away. These things take time and your metrics will slowly start to improve as your domain gains some age and clout. Also, these metrics are not necessarily updated continuously and often times minor G algorithm updates are needed before you see any sort of vertical movement.
Overall, this is normal. Just try to increase your back link numbers in the right way and don't engage in any black hat tactics. That will kill your site before you can even get off the ground.
Hope this helps.
- Ben
Also, it does not look like you have any robots.txt information set up. I could be missing something here but that is definitely something you want to look into. Robots.txt lets crawlers know what parts of your site to crawl and index, and which pages you want them to avoid.
Thanks Ben ,for your msg ,i didnt know about robots.txt ,will look it up and try to implement it . What is PA,in u r post?
Hi Vamsi,
Before you read this, I highly recommend that you grab a cup of coffee, or Shai for there is a lot of reading here!
You got many good recommendations here that I highly recommend you, and your client, consider!
As far having someone do SEO for your client for $20, I am sorry to say that no professional SEO will take that offer, and might even see it as an insult.
I am sorry to say but you put too much on your plate than you can handle. I am just being honest here and I am not trying to offend you, so don't take my below recommendations/comments as an insult!
Did you look at your client's competition? If he just hired you to design the website, then probably not. And if he wants you to do SEO, or copywriting (content writing), and you don't feel you qualify (no insult meant here), then I would recommend to be straightforward with him!.
Again, I recommend that you are upfront and straightforward with your client because if you do SEO and write content for him, he might come back to you and complain about not being on top of his competition. So avoid the problems before they even start!
Just to protect yourself (from a client, and even a friend), always have everything in writing (email is also good).
Now, to your client's site and our recommendations/comments!
I took a look at your client's site and found issues that you can easily fix! Those issues are with the design, SEO - search engine optimization (On-page SEO), and Technical SEO areas!
Design:
Logo - Your logo is all the way to the left, while your menu is on the right with a huge empty space in between the two.
Icons - OK! Everyone knows what a Twitter and Facebook icon is used for! But what about the airplane, camera, and the phone icons? Are they descriptive? I check the Camera link and it takes me to a page with pictures of great locations but the camera icon is confusing for it does not tell me where I will end up once clicked.
Plus, it opens in another window (or tab depending how you have your browser setup) and this is a No NO when linking internally. Also, the tour page has nothing descriptive and not even a title. I clicked on the WhatsApp icon and, again, it opened in another tab. How many tabs will I have open and end up with if I visited every page of your client's site?
- The Globe? What is the purpose of having it on the website? If it does not serve any purpose to your visitors, then we recommend removing it for it will add unnecessary page load time.
-Text color - We understand that the orange color is part of your theme color, but you don't have to use it as your font color for the body text! Stay consistent and stay with today's design standards and trends! (my personal preference).
- Text - Centered text are against great UX (user experience). We, as humans, are used to reading text from left to right (or right to left depending on your native language), so give us what we are accustomed to.
- Background image - Don't use an out of focus image as a background!
- Responsive - You need to customize your client's site to look much better on a mobile device than it does right now!
SEO:
- Domain - Was the .com TLD not available? People are used to .com and if it was available, that would've been your first best choice!
- Keyword - Have you performed keyword research before targeting a specific keyword? - A very important part
- Page Title - Your page title could use some optimization - This will depend on the right keyword/keyword phrase to target
- Headings - You are not using any headings to help you boost your targeted keyword.
- Content - Google don't like landing pages because they tend to be very thin, and yours falls into that category. Quality content, and a good amount of it will help you rank your site better!
- Keywords - You don't need to have your keyword listed in the keyword meta tag (it is not longer used as a ranking factor). We also recommend that you remove it just because you will be helping your client's competitor know what your client is targeting and use that against him! - Depending on the amount of content, you should use your keyword/keyword phrase once, or twice on a particular page! You can also use synonyms.
Page Description - I did not see a page description! Even though the page description is no longer a high ranking factor, you should still write a good page description for the following simple but important reasons:
a) Do you want Google to guess the description for you, which is something you really don't want Google (and other search engines) to do! Plus, it will be difficult to have Google add a good page description from a page with thin content syndrome!
b) Use a good page description to entice visitors to click on your client's link, instead of your competitor's.
TECHNICAL SEO:
Images - You have images that are not optimized for speed (banner, logo, and logo1)
Images - You have images that are not optimized for SEO (same images as above)
Images dimensions - Your logo, and logo1 png are missing width and height attributes. When you do that, you are adding to the page load time!
Images - Missing Alt tags - Ad Alt Tag to every image you use!
404 - You have requests that are returning a 404 response (flexslider.css)
CSS and Scripts- You need to properly order your CSS and Script! What we mean by that is you need to make sure that your content is loading before any CSS or JavaScript file.
Leverage browser caching - If you don't need a feature, especially if the feature is outsourced, remove it because you will not be able to set its freshness lifetime (or expiration date). This external resource is from rc.revolvemaps.com/js/c.php (I really don't see the purpose of it on your site.
JavaScript Parsing - It is recommended to have your JavaScript parsed after your page load and not during. This way, your visitors will actually see the site content first, and not wait till JavaScript have been loaded! (jquery.min.js)
Minify CSS - Once your site is ready to be live, I recommend that you grab each CSS file, back it up first, and then minify it (remove any blank space and comments, and have all the codes into one single line for faster speed)
Minify JavaScript - Same as above
If you decide to take our recommendations, do so but take one bite at a time and chew it well.
Once you are done, test the site for speed and for design on a mobile device.
Once everything is fine, submit a sitemap to Google, Bing, and be very patient!
Please note that there is more to SEO and getting the right visitors to your client's site, or getting phone calls from customers, then what we've listed above!
Throw away your PR (Page Rank) analysis, and focus on providing quality and on topic content! Ranking will come naturally. Your Page Authority and Domain Authority will improve with time, but just be patient (or tell your client to be patient).
Also, don't focus on building links because your high quality and on topic content will do that for you!
Please remember to write for your visitors first, and not the search engines! Google will actually look at your content and rewards you for putting your visitors first instead of the other way around!
Start with providing a good design and good user experience, then provide great content, then work on your marketing campaign through social media sites, and other venues.
I hope this help you, and your client achieve high ranking.
Hi,
It's simply about connections.
Increase your Links.
Bon Courage
Hi,
Thank you for your reply ,i guess i have still a lot to learn .The fact is i am not a designer or content writer or SEO guy ,and my mistake was i didnt have anything written from the client about all this ,we only had a verbal agreement and then his requirements kept growing and growing and he wasnt willing to spend any money to hire others. This was actually my first freelancing work and i needed money so i quoted less.
Yes i looked into his compeitition ,he has like 0 competition as in this country ,there is no dedicated taxi service provider ,even if they are ,they dont have websites .His older website http://www.muscat-taxi.com/ is the only site that comes up on google as the first link on google. He already had a .com website but he wanted to keep two sites ,it was only his decision to chose the name
Do you recommend any book for reading SEO tricks?
The whatsapp page actually had a form ,where you can send details and it goes to my clients whatsapp messenger on his phone ,but then whatsapp is blocking the number if we use too much of it to send messages .
Regarding the sliding globe ,my client wanted visitor count ,which was easy to program ,but then he said he should know from which place with flags of the country ,each user came from,so instead i used this java script code ,and he was happy when he saw the globe revolving and stuff .
Hi Vamsi,
Hope you are feeling fine after getting a lot of expert suggestions.
Without pointing out errors and your experience, i am going to list down fat words to build traffic for new website or blog.
1- Build proper hub web page (Design, Development, Navigation, Sitemap)
2- Do competitor research (Niche-wise)
3- Keyword research (Google keyword planner or any other)
4- Do not filter keyword (Its Google job)
5- On-Site Optimization (On-page practices)
6- Build Social media channels
7- Build Social Bookmarking Channels
8- Off-Site Optimization (Off-page practices)
Practice ERA: 4-6 Months
P.S. : Do not focus on page rank, because i have asked question about Page rank worthy or not https://www.linkedin.com/grp/post/71207-6043432302116171778?trk=groups-post-b-title and I came to point, its not worthy, so just focus on traffic, PA, DA etc.
Come back after 5-6 Months, probably i or someone may guide you more according to situation.
Feel free to ask more
Cheers!

Hi Vamsi,
Here is my short advice. Don't worry about google page rank. It's a new website that probobly won't have page rank for some time and that is expected. What you should be focusing on is the structure of the site and how you will develop engaging content that will give both the SERP crawlers and users an idea of what your site is all about. Page rank will come with time if you develop content that will attract visitors, backlinks, social shares, etc. There is a whole plethora of detail we could expand on here but the core of your question will be addressed once you start developing high quality, relevant, unique content on your client's site.
Vamsi, many advices can be given, to make your SEO understanding better and more efficient.
1. Your pagerank
As the domain is new, you will have for some weeks no pagerank, and after it will be 0. Don't expect a change in the next months, the pagerank is no longer disclosed, but Google uses it internally.
So if the pagerank was an interesting parameter for old sites, we no longer use it.
2. As mentioned in other answers, and if we want to summarize, in SEO you have 4 main domains to handle :
- keywords identification : quality is the rule, not quantity. Because quantity never gives good results, or you need a huge budget to build an optimization strategy for each keyword
- on site optimization : your site architecture, pages content and structure, internal linking.
- off site optimization : backlinking is the main task. Find quality sites that will link to you with relevant contant and linking.
- social networks presence : some say it is not important for Google, we see everyday that is it very important for your ranking.
3a. What is wrong ?
Your site is new, not optimized so it is a frequent situation.
You will now need to optimize your site.
We done a fast audit of your site and here are some figures and recommendations :
- 11 pages are found on the site, 10 are indexed in Google
- to avoid duplicate indexing, you have to fix www and non www versions
- you have 9 duplicate titles (Muscat-Taxi). Titles have to be unique and relevant for the page
- 11 empty meta descriptions. The meta description is very important. It is the text that is displayed in Google search results. If your meta description is empty, you cannot manage the text the visitors will read in Google search results list.
- some W3C errors
- no robots.txt file, that allows search engines to index only the pages you allow to be indexed.
And as you mentioned, you have no backlinks.
3b. What is wrong ?
You can fix some other mistakes :
- keyword stuffing : as mentioned in another answer, don't put too many keywords in a page. Depending on the content, 1 to 3 keywords could be enough. 200 is very bad, you will be penalized by Google. This is an old fashion black hat technique ...- duplicate content : content is very important, has to be unique and relevant (no matter who has copied who). For example, your " About us " page shows some text that is found on 3 sites : http://rentacarinzagreb.com/index.php/ru/chauffeur-service - http://www.cowboycab.com/home/page?name=aboutus - http://dallasmarketcenterhotel.com/area-guide/travel-transportation/ cowboy-cab/
4. And now ?
As mentioned in other answers, 2 solutions :
- do the SEO yourself : interesting, can be long. Before beginning your SEO tasks, we advise you to read a book that is available online for free (paid PDF version) at : seoinpractice.com
It is not completely up to date with latest trends, but basics are there, which is enough for beginning.
- hire a freelancer or an agency : too expensive for your customer budget. As mentioned in another answer, be VERY careful about many freelancers or low cost agencies that do only backlinking to poor or penalized sites, without any relevant content.
Many more explanations could be given, feel free to continue discussion by PM, it will be our pleasure to help you.
Just to back up what others have said and to summarise ('cos there's a lot of confusing stuff here):
1) Keyword meta tags are pointless, take them out.
2) It takes time to get PR, but that's pointless too. It's now an internal metric and Google doesn't update it. I've seen PR 9 websites that don't rank for anything.
3) It takes time to rank. Unless you get some pretty hefty links from some great articles in some top quality sites, you're not going to rank for a long time yet.
4) You need more content. Lots more content.
Consider ranking in Google like this. Google doesn't rank you so you can get a popular site. Google ranks sites that are already popular.
Apart from making sure your site is optimised properly, don't even consider Google, just make great content that people will want to read, and get the word out using social media, blogs and other things.
A couple of things - and this is of today - June 19, 2016. I respectfully disagree with the folks about a good description. You need a very good one, and it has to match your page content. Google now does not allow people to stack keywords like they used to. It used to be, for example, that you could put all the places you serve on the first page, and stack keyword terms. Now Google considers it spam. As far as not having keywords at all, I also respectfully disagree. Google may not recognize keywords so much anymore, but there are other search engines that still do. I also do agree with those who believe you need lots more content. One of the most inexpensive ways to help your web site get more popularity, besides using social media, is to have your web site address on every printed piece of advertising you have or can get. This is an absolute must, because it will encourage people to visit. And it will be memorialized on paper.
Your first problem is 200 keywords per/page. Google will wind back slap you across the face for that. Keep it to no more than 10 keywords per/page with a 2-3% keyword density.
Your next problem is that it is only 5 days old. Domain authority and pagerank are numbers you earn not build. Your client needs to put forth a solid digital marketing plan using a well rounded multi-pronged approach that builds traffic and brand.

In addition to some good advice from other sources, you might consider these ideas: 1. A taxi company has a finite work area, and marketing area. Make sure your keys and pages include local geographic reference and that will help boost you in local organic searches. 2. Look into Google Snippet structure to add to your pages. It's simple code addition, there are several generators to produce it, there are several preset categories, one of which might fit your client, and Google likes the format. A lot.
Slow down, take your time and stop worrying about distraction metrics such as Page Rank.
Vamsi, Google seems to have discontinued sharing PageRank with the public, even though they still use it internally. In addition to all the other good avice here, I suggest you not focus on PageRank but rather on end results like rankings and traffic and conversions. If you or your client really need a PageRank-like measure, try MozRank or Domain Authority.
Vamsi-
There are many components to getting on the first page of Google search results and it looks like you covered a few of the basics.
FACTOR #1: SEO Website
I will assume you built a search engine optimized website, simply because it's too much to cover here. This includes the domain and hosting.
FACTOR #2: Google Refresh:
Google refreshes it's data regularly. They do this by crawling your site (not just once) and nobody knows how often they do this. Google says they crawl sites "regularly". That's all they tell. Some of us that continually test this have an idea as to how often they do this (every 5-10 days). Even so, there are various factors to consider if and when your site will be crawled. What kind of site and how it's built? What measures are you taking to be proactive in getting Google to crawl your site?
FACTOR #3: Geographical Area Being Targeted
Whether you are performing "localized" SEO or "national SEO" matters. It is much easier and faster to rank for your zip code area than for a County, State or the U.S.
FACTOR #4: Web 2.0 or Web 3.0
Without getting too complicated, Web 2.0 or Web 3.0 refer to the work performed online, outside of your website. It's all the SEO "stuff" you read about like social, content, video, etc. This all matters when it comes to ranking.
FACTOR #5: Competition
How much competition there is for the same market you are targeting makes a difference. The quality of SEO your competition is performing is also very important. Obviously, low competitive market sector for a zip code area will be much easier to rank in and a highly competitive market sector with highly skilled SEO experts will be much more difficult to rank for.
There is more that has to be performed as well as how well one performs all this. You are talking about beating out the competition for one spot out of maybe ten on the 1st page of Google, and many if not all have hired an SEO company.
My company is one of the few that guarantee the 1st page of Google and understand well what if takes to accomplish this.
"How" to rank on the 1st page of Google can not be answered here because there are simply too many factors to consider.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply ,but I dont think ,my client will want to be able to pay up for the services of American company as it would be too costly.
First off, do what Elaine Slatter suggests as that should be your first step. Secondly, yes, it will take some time so don't get too worried about the first couple/few weeks. But moving forward, the best way to move up the Google Ranks will be to incorporate a solid content marketing plan where you put out helpful information that brings value to your marketplace. If the content is helpful/good enough, then people should share/like/engage/stay on your pages etc.. which are all things that the Google Spiders like. Hope this helps.
First, your page rank is not 0, your client's PageRank is "n/a". Second, when I looked at your profile, I see you've done apps and a website for a single client, your work experience is as an Engineer, and you have one certification, as an "Oracle Certified Java Programmer". You apparently have no experience in website marketing, but that means you made a vary severe error, plus a couple of others that should be easy to fix.
Your severe error was in keeping 200 keywords in each page. Each page should have, at most, three keywords per page, and they should be related to the content of the page. Your Title Tag should contain the keywords for that page(remember, no more than 3). You also have no description meta tag, which helps visitors decide whether your client provides the services they need. You do not need lots of "keywords, headings (and) pictures, and you do not have "lots" of relevant content. In fact, I saw no headings at all, including in the content of the page. "Lots" of pictures serve no useful purpose, and the ones you keep should have an "alt" tag, which describes the picture when it cannot be seen, and should have a related keyword in it. The pictures at the top of the "Taxi Tours" page, and the four links, should go away. There's no reason for them to be there.
Once you've done the above, find a "reputable" marketing firm that can do proper SEO for your client. It won't be easy, because a lot of them are not reputable, but you do not know enough to give your client the professional service they need. Sometimes, admitting you can't provide a service, and recommending someone who can, does more to enhance your reputation than trying to provide the service, and creating a mess.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply,i will remove the keywords and keep alt tags for the images .For the images in Taxi Tour my client has no IT knowledge ,when he saw the transitions of the images ,he was very happy thats why i left it like that ,i actually wanted to keep a carousel there .I have no prior knowledge of SEO ,and we didnt even discuss about it ,i thought all i had to do was to develop the website, then he told me to write content ,now client said SEO work ,then he asks me to do some other works like putting an ad on trip advisor and the list keeps on growing.I charged very less ,so i cant pay others to do SEO work and he doesnt want to pay others too much ,maximum he will pay 20 $ and i doubt anyone would do SEO for 20 $.
Thanks
Since I first posted, you've received some very detailed replies, and you can see that SEO is a lot of work. I agree with Ahmed that you should tell the client that SEO is not your area of expertise, and he should find someone else to do this type of work. As far as getting quality SEO work for $20, even taking into consideration the exchange rate and the economy of the country in which you are located, you're probably right - no one can do quality work for $20. Ahmed is also right about getting everything in writing, and that should have happened before you even started working for your client.
Also, think very hard about what this can do to your reputation. What if potential clients for the services you can provide find out about this client, or he writes something about the terrible service he believes he is getting from you, and some of your potential clients read it. You could wind up losing a lot of clients due to this one incident. It may be time to cut your losses.
Vamsi, I would check out the sitemap on Google webmaster tools to see how Google is ranking the new website and check for any errors in the sitemap. Also check that you don't have conflicting sitemap plugins on the site you built. For example if you are using Yoast SEO for your site map, any other plugin will be in conflict. You would need to de-activate the conflicting plugin.
Hi ,
I think sitemap is fine .I didnt use any plugin .Thanks for your help.
I am going to say thank you to Vamsi for this question. It is every new blogger or Web owners question. I have visited both the .com and .net taxi website and did not see any improvement based on the various responses/suggestions from members.
Thanks
