How can I increase sales for a new toy line directed at young children 2-8 ages?
I am launching a new toy line for the early childhood education target market, ages 2-8.
Should I be reaching out to sales reps, online stores, and distributors in this market with the focus of getting into retail and online stores or should I try and sell directly from a website to mothers?
Any advice is very appreciated.
That's not as straightforward a question as you might think :) First of all, children in this age bracket are vastly different in terms of their learning styles, perceptions, forms of expression, etc., than previous generations.
There's a little secret in regards to the whole "ADHD" and "Autism" epidemics. If you've noticed, the children born somewhere between 1990-1999, fueled the so-called "ADHD" wave, where every other child seemed to be labeled ADD or ADHD and was given medications like Ritalin, Adderall, and other unfathomable drugs for such young souls. There are many cases reported of heart attacks, strokes, liver failure and more, in children around 5 years old and up. It's really a sad thing to say they're actually drugging their "soul", as this is who they are and really aren't a typical case of ADD or ADHD. Society, however, loves to label what it doesn't quite understand...
So... thanks to quantum physics and its String Theory, solid matter, as we once thought it to be, is actually slowed down or frozen light particles (aka energy or everything is actually made up of a base in the energetic patterns that make up all things). The universal language (mathematics) of numbers or numerical patterns has always held the key to the ultimate answers to life.
Your date of birth represents the energetic pattern that is YOU, within the energetic matrix of the universe. We were all born into a specific point in the timeline of the flowing energy patterns or frequencies that are the building blocks of creation. I know that can sound a little "airy-fairy" but having grown up with ZERO religious upbringing and excelling during my academic years, in mathematics and science (in enriched math in middle school, IQ professionally test in my early twenties at 138). TRUST me, I require a ton of fact with my faith.
That said, I started to randomly dream in numbers in my early twenties, every single night. With no spiritual influence, I couldn't make heads or tails of what I was dreaming of. I wrote down all the numerical patterns for about 3 months. After that, I couldn't stand it any longer and began to research numbers, numerical patterns, number frequencies, etc. I found numerology or The Science of Numbers and I can tell you, from it being "tried and tested" for the past 20+ years of my career... it's a science that is 100% accurate every, single, time. Just as in mathematics, 2+2=4 and it will always equal 4. No room for error.
Those children with multiple 9's in their date of birth (1990-1999), had multiple 9's in their date of birth. As the most active Mind Plane Number, they were bored, with computer-like thinking, bouncing off the walls because they were always one step ahead, or tuned out because it just wasn't interesting to them. They were tangent-thinkers, big-dreamers, way ahead of the rest of us.
Enter stage left: The 21st Century. The multiple 9's are suddenly replaced by multiple 2's. The 2 is of the "emotional or soul level" and is the number of intuition, sensitivity, and passivity. Hence, these supposed new group of Autistic kids were hypersensitive to sounds, food textures, clothing tags, social bombardment, etc. Of course, they were! Anyone with multiple sensitive 2's in their date of birth and lacking the bold, outward, mind-focused, driven 9, is going to feel like they're overloaded by the life around them, much more readily than the previous generations.
That said, your target demographic that you're aiming to sell to (and their parents), should be focused more on marketing that is driven toward the feeling side of life, rather than mindful-based learning. Some of these kids are born with no numerical frequencies (in their date of birth) of the mind plane, meaning this is NOT their innate, go-to learning basis.
Montessori-type learning, hands-on, music, sensory-focused - not textbook or the typical learning of yesterday. It simply won't work for these kids. With the lack of "mind power", so to speak (they're extremely intuitively in-tune, which is much more effective than mind power, anyway, as the mind is simply a tool for soul's expression).
If you can appeal to their senses, it will be a great brand/product line that parents of these children will buy. I hesitate to tell you to approach distributors and sales reps because many of them have not adjusted their business structure to accommodate this new generation. This is precisely why retail is dying and being killed off by free-flowing giants like Amazon, who adapt and stay abreast of current trends, demands, and keeping updated on any shifts in demographical markets.
It's a majorly huge time of shifting, not just in business but in many ways, globally.
Dave, I can't stress to you how very imperative it is that you ensure your product line is appealing to this new "breed" of children. Vastly different from any who came before them.
Do your homework on this demographic and remember that they're not necessarily "Autistic" but hypersensitive, emotional-based (instead of mental-based) and sounds, touch, toys/learning items that evoke an emotional response, is how this group learns best. Guaranteed.

Distributors to the market. There are enough big players in the online toy marketing business. If you can supply to them, nothing like it!
