Should I get a degree in business or management to start a company?
I'm curious as to which is better, should I get a degree in business to right away start a company or get a degree in a workplace that will help you out in your area of interest? I personally would rather get the experience and feel of my area before heading in with a degree.
I'm all ears, feedback is appreciated.
I earned my bachelor's of science in global business. That's not to say it has helped me in understanding business more or less. I know more definitions, histories, and processes but not so much as how to apply the knowledge in the real/ fast-evolving world of business.
I personally believe you can start your own company without a degree. I wouldn't be where I'm at today without it (in America!). You should, however, spend much time on study those who have created successful businesses. See if you can find trends. I talk with my company's owner all the time he's a great guy. He shares a lot of entrepreneurship experience, and he says he spent a lot of time studying those who have launched successful products and businesses.
I don't really plan on creating a full business. Maybe I'll start a side business one day or become a brand ambassador. But this is information that I have learned through stories and experience.
I hope it helps!
As somebody who has never acquired a business degree and lived a few years in a constant test and try mode, I would recommend learning about your business as you go.
You see, a business degree should provide you with a solid theoretical understanding of what it is to build a business on paper. In reality though, things are different. I believe that you should jump right into it and find practitioners instead. Find somebody who has established authority in your business niche and see how they do business. You might as well contact them for professional advice if you feel stuck.
Personally, I don't think that a business or managing degree in uni is a waste but I would follow the 20/80 rule. Where 20% of theory should be applied to get 80% of practical understanding of what it is to run your business.

Well, you do not need either except that you must understand the concept of your business and take an understudy of whoever you feel has been successful in your line of business. Education is good but it’s not the same as a real-life scenario. Practical experience is very important.
A degree in business does help you when you start your own business.
Many people start a company without a business degree but that doesn't mean they do not keep studying out of the campus.
I myself studied the English language in college, but I head to a business job directly and I found my passion on doing it and I have worked for several international companies to get more experience then I launched a company of my own.
But still, I keep studying to get more skills and knowledge, running a company isn't easy, a business owner is going to keep studying no matter in what way. But I believe having a professional study in university does help your business in the long run, you may not realize in the beginning, but it will.
If you start your own startup then the business study is a must, believe me. If you are young, you can try but this will cost you. If you have a passion you can get along with both side work and study. The life will be more joyful for you. I know from my personal experience :)
