Should my website have a blog?
I'm not sure it makes sense for me to add a blog to my website. I'm an accountant and I wonder how many people are really looking to read accounting resources. However, I am looking for ways to give myself more credibility in my field. Is adding a blog the right approach?
Yes, as long as you update it on a regular basis. Nothing worse than clicking on a blog on seeing that the last post was in 2010, kinda defeats the object. Some great answers here on topics to write about.
If you've got something of value to provide to your readers then a blog is a good idea for many of the reasons already posted.
Agree with everyone's comments so far and add one more thing. A blog will also add fresh content to your site on a regular basis, which is always good to keep your site active on the search engine rankings.
They can be a great way to engage customers, though you have to be prepared to keep content going into it. Can be easy when you have time, though easy to put to one side in busier times.
Deborah, people (specially business owners and entrepreneurs) have SEVERAL pain areas. You can use easy and simple blogging to address and answer those pains. It will help you establish your credibility and trust with a genuine effort to help people. And eventually, the readers are likely to become your prospects. You should blog.
Deborah, I have an accountant client who has used a blog to identify (and differentiate) himself through the use of humor (one of his unique qualities). What is YOUR differentiator and can you define it in writing? If you can, you had better believe it matters. It sure has for my client.
Yes, a blog is a great way to add quality relevant content to your site. Someone who is interested in accounting services may be interested in case studies and other interesting business and accounting related articles.
