What is an alternative domain name for my company; without losing our brand recognition?
My company is B & S Industries. I am creating a website for my consulting company, and I need input on domain names. We already have brand recognition for the name, and I want to preserve that. I am not allowed to use the symbol "&" in the domain name. I don't like "bandsindustries".
It would be cool to get one of the new domain extensions. These top-level domains have the same authority as a .com. They give you a chance to include keywords in your domain name while keeping the URL short.
NObsdustries.com is available just a thought.
Have you tried .co .usa .net etc etc

You Know TATA has successful different business has different logo in IT ,Automobile, Steel.. U can do it consult graphologist...
What about bnsindustries.com? What B, S stand for? sometimes choosing the correct domain name while preserving branding have to doa little bit with keeping effective search engine optimization in mind.
I think this might be a little awkward, but I'll take a closer look. Thanks for the suggestion.
bsconsulting.com
- the simplest the better
- easy to remember
- this domain is for sale on web
Spell out whatever it is that B and S stand for. And for that matter, avoid shortening it to BSI everywhere - business cards, logo, advertising...From a branding perspective, initials are categorically the least memorable and least evocative type of name. They don't mean anything to anyone. Of all the categories of name types we develop for a brand, initials come dead last. A quick search on acronym finder gave me 120 companies with the name BSI. For that reason, you will never really own it outright and will forever battle them all for Google recognition. http://www.acronymfinder.com/BSI.html
You can reverse it (e.g. industriesbands) or use dashes industries-b-and-s or use word "plus" (e.g. bplussindustries) but, in my opinion, you need to avoid using just "bs"
another option is bnsindustries or b-n-s_industries
I might use that in Mexico for example where the noun frequently is placed before the modifier. Thank you.
I think there is no need worry too much about this. As far as the url is concerned no one knows your url. Its going to be new. So just go far whatever url seems good to you. Important thing is how your website logo and content represents your business. No one cares about your url. Whatever you fix as your url that is going to be official.
You can have "bnsindustries" but use your existing logo in the website.
I would say, somehow people care. Not completely on the name, and meaning, but more on how it is written. Getting a domain that is too competitive, or complicated enough that can be typed in so many ways, in where misspellings send you to another website is sometimes counterproductive. What happens is that good competitors will use those domains ideas to get links that forward visitors or potentials to their websites. And if their SEO is done so much better than yours, there are chances to lose market.
Make a list of domain names and search their availability with you domain provider. And even try typing those domains in the browser or search engine and see what it came up with. Keep your branding and vision yes, but be wary on your differentiators and people abilities to catch your name quickly.
Success to you!
To add to the answers already provided:
1. I would avoid using a hyphen in the domain name since it's easy for people typing in your company domain to forget to include the hyphen character.
2. I would stick with a .com domain even if means sacrificing a more meaningful domain name. For example, if the "perfect" domain name was only available with a .us, .biz or other TLD I wouldn't use any of these non-.com TLDs since they are not as professional and they're also harder for people to remember.
3. You could try bsind.com
Isn't this too generic? Can you also tell little more about what your company does? And what B&S stands for?
I may go with something that describes the business, say, "leanconsulting" or other. Thanks for your input.
Consider going with a name for your domain that reflects the kind of work you do. For example, while I do own servitiumpartners.com, I also use the domain csuccesshacker.com (my twitter ID is csuccesshacker) which also resolves to my website as well.
I like it. I'll give the phrase idea a try. Thank you for your idea.
What about BSI? It is short and easy, you just need to be lucky to find the right TLD extension to go with that.
That has been the problem-- DN name already taken. Thank you for the input.
Last time I checked there where still a lot of TLD extensions that had BSI available, to name a few:
.co.com/.rocks/.holdings/.global/.zone
That is where I am at now: evaluating alternates to .com, .net., .me, etc
Good call and good luck. I finally settled for a .expert for my video animation project that I am trying to get off the ground. Not as traditional but it suits the company.
Tough one William. Have you considered using a "-" instead of an "&"? Or is there a way you can use a catch phrase instead of the company name? Like Productexperts.com something that recognizes what you do instead of your legal identity.
Trying to stay away from the "-". The idea of using a phrase is a good one. I'll give that one a try. Thank you for your idea.
"-" is a blessing and a curse. It worked for me and my business so I still offer it up. Happy to try and help where I can...good luck.
What do the "B" and "S" stand for? Spell out the names in the domain? Or try "BSIndustries".
My problem is the default lower case: BSIndustries defaults to bsindustries which is not appealing to me, Thanks for your input.
Thank you for your input. I will check them out . . . except for the first thought.
