How can I fill positions without subscribing to a job search website?
What are some ways I can find independent sales reps from the hospitality industry without subscribing to a job search website? I have been unsuccessfully soliciting LinkedIn groups.
We are looking for pay-for-performance type relationships. This is a high end product with generous commission potential, but this is a small industry with almost no visibility. What are some ways we can get better recognized and in front of sales reps to help spread the word?
Thanks in advance!
I have used eLance or Odesk, now merged into a company called UpWork. There are many freelancers on these sites. They are rated by former employers on all sorts of criteria. Some work for a fee, some for comission, check and see who meets your criteria?
Publish in schools, networks, and publicize in your website you always welcome applicant in your industry to send resumes to you. Let them know you dont use job search websites for private reasons.. but inviting them to maybe subscribe to your newsletter can help tremendously. Paying for a newsletter account have shown better result that posting in a job search website. I did it to one of my friend and we created even a group in linked.. we publicize about this everywhere we are in. So interested get to see what is available or whom should they connect with.
Thank you all for the outstanding support!
Our products are currently distributed nation-wide throughout an independent dealer-distributor network, but the bulk of those dealers advertise our products primarily to homeowners. We would like to better position our products into the architectural, hospitality and commercial markets, especially our new waterproof retractable pergola; designed to expand outdoor dining. These responses certainly help me with some direction. Thank you all!
There are different service providers like Shaker who can create webpages off of your current website if you have one for a relatively low charge. If you're business is somewhat established, incentivize your emotes with a referral program that is generous BUT don't wait too long to pay out. Create a company page for free on LinkedIn and mix in updates there with the job advertisement. Look at using Facebook as well to encourage your company site & use the careers section. A service like like Tweet-My-Jobs will act as an aggregator and pull job postings from your website and post to Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Finally, ensure that your job posting has the title, company name, and location within the first 250 characters as that is what Google picks up initially. Also, Indeed and Glassdoor are aggregators and will pull your jobs, for free. Most specialty recruiters or agencies will charge you 18-30% of the first year's annual salary. Before going that route, perhaps hire a contract recruiter OR utilize some of these other methods.
Top free ways to find candidates:
-local community newspapers/periodicals
-networking events (check local Chamber of Commerce websites, BNI chapters, meetup.com, social media)
-post the position on your social media sites, you never know who knows who!
-post the position on your website
-colleges in your area
Have you tried posting through other social media channels? If you are active on FB and Twitter, people could contact you if they see your feed. Plus, others might re-post, re-tweet. You might also consider offering referral bonuses to employees who connect you to someone who accepts a position. Good luck!
The first idea is if you have a website post the position there. I would put in a disclosure that you will not accept representation from recruiters otherwise; they are going to contacting you non-stop. Then consider contacting a local hospitality association letting them know you are looking to fill a position
One word: LinkedIn. Also, search around on the site you're on right now, MosaicHub...
Specialist recruitment agencies are one way you may be able to recruit staff. Another way is to look at past hiring decisions in order to establish where you have found your representatives from in the past. Networking with the relationships you have is always a good bet.
You could try MANA which is the Manufacturers Agents National Association. Their web site is https://www.manaonline.org/
I was a member for years in a former life. Reincarnation is great.
