What are some good ecommerce websites that I can invest in to find new clients?
My business sells marketing materials to companies in the shipping and aviation industry.
I have invested to sell on Alibaba, but there's one main problem, many clients hide their email addresses on Alibaba and it is hard to follow up after receiving an inquiry from them. It takes several follow-ups to close the deal most of the time. Some clients only leave a personal email address without any information about their business, it is hard to recognize if they are my target clients or not. Many are just traders outside of China, my business trades most of the products so there is no point in wasting too much time dealing with other traders while I am a trader myself. I do not spend much time managing my Alibaba store anymore and my business there is going bad. I made most of my profit by searching and contacting target clients on Google. Recently, I invested in an exhibition in an international trade show, I will follow up with potential clients I meet there and see how it goes.
So I am thinking maybe I should cancel my investment on Alibaba and try some other e-commerce websites like Amazon. Amazon is widely known as a retailer site, do they have the site for business to sell products at a big quantity to other business?
My business is not about retailing, I buy most of the products from factories and resell them at big quantity with client's marketing theme printed to the companies in the shipping and aviation industry. And I own a few molds and I pay factories for producing some of the products created by my own company.
Investing in ecommerce website is a good plan, but sounds like you are into B2B segment. The potential customers could be shipping and aviation companies located anywhere in the world. The better plan would be reaching out to the companies from shipping and aviation industry, and pitch about your offerings.
There's a lot of manual work involved, but it is worth considering the accuracy of the data. "Data is money".
I am the founder of outsourced business development firm "Zingpro Consulting" based in India. We offer B2B lead generation service, through which we identify your potential customers and fix an appointment for you. If you meet with 20-30 prospects, I am sure there will be at least one conversion. To fix appointment with 20-30 prospects, we should have reached out to at least 300-400 companies and we do that in a month's time.

Amazon has a B2B section, and to my limited knowledge, doesn't require much of an investment.
Your offering includes custom products branding, and it's unclear how customization can be easily sold via Amazon. If the customization is inaccurately (or even accurately) done, buyer may decide to return the entire order. And Amazon would in 95% of cases require refund of 100% of the returns, causing major losses.
My suggestion-- sell small quantities of initial promo models and after shipment, try to get actual buyer's information, e.g. with rebate card, free customization enhancement, etc. Then direct target market the buyer once they accept offer.
