What are the most common time wasters a new entrepreneur runs into?
Short answer is fine, What time wasters once did or currently keep you from your best work day? No matter how embarrassing it might be I want to know what really hangs up entrepreneurs. There was a time a phone game kept me from work. What does it for you?
My to-do list has to go on my to-do list otherwise I spend so much time on it that it becomes counter-productive
Bookkeeping, HR, Legal. Basically all of the administrative stuff.
These things take a ton of specialized knowledge and there are reasonably priced resources available to handle all of them.
Entrepreneurs should focus on what they do best, and that is very seldom "running" a business.
A lot of time in business we tend to spend time on the activities that we enjoy and it makes us think that we are really busy. But those activities (social media, bookkeeping) are not what drives a businesses growth. Prospecting is the activity that we always put off. You have to ask yourself the question "Is what I am doing going to help me get to my goal?'
Hi Jennifer - to the point, the biggest time waster is the unproductive 'thinking' that time can or must ever be managed.
Ever notice how 6pm comes after 5pm, consistently, every day? Enough said ;-)
What to do? I empower my "Get UNstuck NOW!" VIP clients to consistently 'find' 2+ hours/day - what would you do with the 30+ days/year that this single strategy creates? That's right.
How? Focus 100% of your energy, guided by your inner self, your gut ... it always serves you best! And if our 'monkey mind' is in conflict, go with your gut anyway!
How will you know which is speaking (gut/UNconscious vs thinking/Conscious): Easy: immediately ditch any and everything that looks, sounds or feels like a comparison/generalization/deletion/distortion or is negative/limiting or is based on lack/want/scarcity. Hey! that's the 'stuff' all 'stuck' people fight with daily. Exactly!
Lots of resources listed in my profile or contact me directly (my honor to empower you further on this, my treat).
I only have two:
1. Not working while at work
2. Not staying close to whatever task/relationship(s) keeps you close to the "money in"
The new entrepreneurs generally waste time in relishing their new status, i.e. being an employer, new establishment etc...
In our business, Facebook is a waste of time. No leads, no prospects.
Many entrepreneurs try to do too much themselves. Just concentrate on bringing in business.
The biggest time waster for me is waiting for and having to chase down checks from clients. This sucks because it takes time away from work I could be doing and when I get to a certain point and still haven't received a check from a client, I stop doing work for them until I see the money. I understand that this is something many people in business face, so I understand it may never change, but it does suck.
Being unclear who you do business with. Not everyone wants what you are proving, find your idea client and Market just to them
Over driving my headlights. Meaning trying to take on too much at once when you should be outsourcing tasks instead of trying to do them all yourself
