It really depends on your problem solving skills. Every locksmith knows that you're going to run into stuff you've never seen or done before... It's not a rare occurence. It's how you handle it and what kind of system you have in place to figure things out. I've never and will never recommend locksmithing education. Sure, you can learn a lot. However, it's nothing like the actual field. There is a lot they don't teach you. If you are serious about becoming a locksmith, I recommend an apprenticeship. Work with a guy who has been doing this awhile.
