What are the different types of e-commerce business models?
I am looking to start an e-commerce business. In order for me to decide what type of business I should start with and which one is best for me, I would like to know the different types of e-commerce business models I could pursue? Thank you.
There are four traditional types of ecommerce, including B2C (Business-to-Consumer), B2B (Business-to-Business), C2B (Consumer-to-Business) and C2C (Consumer-to-Consumer). There’s also B2G (Business-to-Government), but it is often lumped in with B2B.
There are five value delivery methods in the ecommerce landscape: D2C (Direct-to-Consumer), white label and private label, wholesaling, dropshipping and subscription service.
If you’re starting an ecommerce business, odds are you’ll fall into at least one of these four general categories.
I found a website that describes them perfectly https://www.ecommerceceo.com/types-of-ecommerce-business-models/#c2c-ecommerce
So instead of spending my time explaining what you can find on Google, I wanted to give a recommendation instead. I recommend going B2C using a platform that supports drop shipping a variety of products, email marketing, promotional options like discount coupons & bundling, automatic shipping calculation, etc... A great example of this is Shopify. During the pandemic, online shopping has skyrocketed. that means it's a great time get it on that type of e-commerce business model.
Another great strategy for using B2C is to create journals, planners, workbooks, and low content ebooks for Amazon. Create it once and sell it over and over again.
There are different e-commerce businesses models, such as business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), and consumer-to-consumer (C2C) models.
Some e-commerce companies utilize multiple models, such as both B2B and B2C models.
Hope this helps.
