What employee monitoring software do you use?
As many employees are now working from home, I wondered what employee monitoring software businesses are using.
What features do you recommend looking for in employee monitoring software? What brand did you choose and would you recommend it to other business owners? If you've used other brands in the past, what made you switch to the one you use now?
Also, did you use employee monitoring software before moving your workforce online?
We weren't actually using any employee monitoring software before quarantine, but we've noticed a drop in productivity since switching to remote work. We have a small IT company, and all the employees used to work in the office. The need for monitoring arose primarily in the Sales and Technical Support departments. For now we trust the developers.
We've tested 3 programs and finally decided to choose Kickidler because of its affordable price (if you choose a longer period) and the fact that it has most of the features we need.
These are the functions that we use in Kickidler:
Real-time screen monitoring (it actually allows supervisors to know exactly what everybody's doing at any moment)
What's we don't exactly love is the design of the program and the inability to monitor emails.
We use one of the best collaboration tools for working remotely in this situation, Restyaboard. This tool allows us to assign tasks, track progress, and communicate with team members. This tool is widely used for Project Planning and Management, Time Management, Task Management, Team Management, CRM, Bug Tracking.
I use Trello and put deadlines on projects. I have experimented with TimeDoctor as well but for my situation with having hard deadlines, it wasn't necessary to use both. So if you feel you need a more strict solution where you can gather more data on what employees are doing then I'd look into TimeDoctor.
I hope this helps.

Deputy is also a great tool for employee monitoring, schedule shifts, leaves etc.
We use TimeDoctor to monitor our remote team. It allows us to look into their total active hours and inactive hours, monitor their screenshots, view mouseclicks and keyboard strokes, aside from having visibility into sites they are using. This is extremely helpful ever since we started our remote company 4 years ago. It drives productivity and helps avoid our team from slacking off.
We used HiveDesk prior to TimeDoctor but the features we need aren't available on HiveDesk.
At our company, we use Slack for messaging and time tracking. Still, of course, there are a lot of different tools that will surely make your life much easier. Among them are Jira, Asana, and others.

Over 34,000 companies currently use the employee productivity monitoring software, Hubstaff.
I lead marketing at Hubstaff and use the tool daily as I work. It's very helpful in tracking my progress toward to-do's, including time spent on each. While I'm tracking time through the simple Chrome browser extension (there are also apps for different devices available), my activity rates are recorded by means of 0's and 1's according to keystrokes and mouse clicks. At the end of the day, I can see my activity levels throughout the day and see where I wasn't very active, or when I was on a hot streak. I'm able to see, for example, Tuesdays my activity levels are low because I have a ton of meetings, but Friday I'm knocking out to-do's and my activity levels are sky-high because I'm uninterrupted. I know now after 3pm I work a bit slower, so I take a good break around that time to refresh. So the ability to track time to to-do's and monitor my activity levels are two very beneficial tools I use to analyze my own work habits and to work with my team on theirs. I don't want to interrupt them during their high-activity times, and sometimes I see a task took more time than it was worth to complete, so we stop putting time in those and shift focus elsewhere.
This past year working at Hubstaff was my first experience with an employee monitoring software. It's my first fully-remote position, so I actually liked that my boss's trust in me could easily be confirmed by looking at my screenshots if he ever needed to, and he could see I was active while tracking time. While we didn't use screenshots at my last corporate job, people walked by my desk continuously and looked over my shoulder, and my manager would pop-in whenever to get an update. There's no need for that, I'm free to focus and work wherever and whenever I choose.
Hope all of this helps!
For those who are looking for employee monitoring software, I would recommend the features of logging keystrokes entered, tracking websites visited, automatic screenshots, recording app use. I have used iKeyMonitor and Easemon, and I am willing to recommend them to other business owners. They are both professional and secure employee monitoring software. Easemon is the monitoring software for Mac and Windows PC while iKeyMonitor is an employee monitoring app that works on iPhone and Android.
Before working remotely from home, I've used employee monitoring software on the company-provided computers.
I'm a remote worker and I use a combination of Toggl and BrowseReporter on my personal machine to help with my time management. I'm quite fond of BrowseReporter as it automatically tracks the time I spend on websites and applications; I mainly use Toggl for time tracking / project management and BR helps me to verify my self-submitted timesheets. Full disclosure, I am an employee of CurrentWare, the B2B software company that makes BrowseReporter+ related employee monitoring products.
If your remote workers are using their own personal devices for work they'll likely object to having monitoring software installed as it can potentially capture sensitive internet history (search queries, websites visited in incognito mode, etc). An alternative would be to use employee monitoring software to monitor traffic coming into your company's VPN.
Employee management software is becoming more popular in various industries. It provides the way to see what the employees are doing at the current moment, what websites they are visiting, what apps they are using, how long they spend on those activities, etc. - and then a report is compiled in your dashboard that lets you see how your employees are spending their office time.
So here, I'm going to share some of the best employee management tools that will help you to manage your employees during working hours: -
