What is the best marketing automation software for small businesses?
I'm looking for an affordable option for our business that has some sort of integration with Salesforce. I'm familiar with all the big names in marketing automation (Marketo, Eloqua, Pardot, etc.), but I've yet to find anything that will cater to small businesses and still integrate with Salesforce. Any suggestions?
There is no "best" as it really depends upon your situation, what you want it to do and how you plan to use it.
For Salesforce integration, you really should talk to them or to the person who set it up for you.
Affordable solutions include Aweber and GetResponse. Midlevel solutions are SalesNexus, ActiveCamapign, Hatchback, CYDEC and others.
Top of of the line is InfusionSoft and Ontraport.
Do some research using Google. Most offer demos so try a couple out and see if they meet your needs and price point.
Full disclaimer: my answer is also what my company does. If you are using SalesForce and contemplating marketing automation, then you might find it economical to build a custom/semi-custom application that you would own for one time costs instead of "renting" applications that are a poor fit, are costly with renewing fees, or both. We have clients with custom built solutions that we replaced for the cost of SalesForce licenses alone, automation solution was a bonus for the same price. Not always the case, but we see it more and more frequently in our client base.
Have you tried Act-on? We're a small business, and previously ran on Vocus (now Cision), and looked into using Act-on, which I believe had Salesforce integration. We ultimately chose Marketo, but Act-On was a close contender.
Hey Jessica - I've done LOADS of work around this space and have some pretty good ideas of what works well, and what works, but still involves manual work arounds. Price can have a huge effect on functionality too.

If the budget is a constraint, and your need is limited to just using email, then you may integrate MailChimp with Salesforce. MailChimp can be integrated with your website as well. You could use platforms like InstaPage to create landing pages on the go, and there are many more plugins. Use a tool like Hootsuite to manage your social media posts. Yes, the only challenge is you have to use different applications to do your work and don't get the luxury of a single window reporting and analysis.
But if you are looking at setting up an Inbound Engine in place, you should evaluate - InfusionSoft, ActOn, Leadformix.
Post the demos, all offer free trials, so you could evaluate which suits your requirements and budget.

Pardot is , as you know , the marketing automation tool of Salesforce. It has many marketing automation activities like lead nurturing programs, landing page, dynamic content, automation and segmentation rules and much more. You can add your targeted campaign keywords also to track their progress. Search marketing and Social media can also be handled here.
So overall it is perhaps the best tool for small business.
Still the only other marketing automation software that is as useful is Hubspot.
